So take yr pick on credibility: me that always back up its statements and claims with verifiable&reputable third party numbers OR the copium sellers that like to 'bend over the truth' like a the street corner hooker likes to bends over to take one up the rear...

Ahahaha, you had played it 0,5 hours when you gave a negative review. Can´t take you serious man. And you talk about credibility and moral, ridiclious.
All fine, go to your AoE 2 forum and stay there until you maybe play AoE 4 one day. Have a nice day.
-Eh, but the subjective point is that both of you have different definitions of success. So you both will never agree. I highly recommend reviewing the Steam rules of conduct when participating in the Steam discussion forums.
I feel like a broken record at this point, but...
- it's normal for a NEW GAME to have a hype peak that declines. As you love Steamcharts so much, go and check the figures of Forza Horizon 5 or Halo Infinite that are also Microsoft games and seen a similar trend
- 16k is a very healthy number considering RTS is a niche genre and also very respectable for a game that costs more than the remaster of a 1999 released game that already has a release on Steam. Also, it's 16k ON STEAM ALONE, we don't know the exact figures for Gamepass/Windows Store unless someone makes the effort to count every single account
- I don't get this STUPID TRIBALISM from you at all. Like, AoE 2 is doing well, AoE 4 is also doing well. Why the need to act like some 12 year old teenager who debates with his friend whether which plastic box is better?! I get console warrior vibes from you.
---------
If there's an RTS that doing horrible, it has to be CoH 3. Started with 36,646 players and now has a peak playerbase of 2 - 2.5k with 53 % reviews whereas AoE 4 has 86 %. These are facts as you'd call it.
That being said, the developers did ruin this game and sabotage its potential.
- Graphics aren't great. Really kind of unappealing honestly.
- Byzantium was not in game from the start and is only being added now with the upcoming DLC, some 2 years after the game was initially released and it's gonna be kind of janky with this olive oil resource nonsense.
- Unit detail is lackluster and unappealing across the board.
- No blood and gore.
- Still the same old build a little army and essentially throw it against the other guys little army.
- Still the same old little army and little unit cap. When historical games like Total War or Crusader Kings or even Knights of Honor II exist where you can actually have many thousands of troops on the field (though in regards to CK this army is represented by a single sprite, at least that sprite can represent, for example, an army of 40,000 troops) it honestly makes playing AoE4 really unappealing and undesirable.
- The developers ruined the competitive ratings system by including a seasonal ranked system on top that resets every season and that usually comes with nonsensical and unnecessary and out of touch seasonal content.
- It has taken these developers 2+ years to put out the first expansion for the game.
- There are more grievances but I've run out of Steam, FloosWorld has pretty much everything else covered.
While I don't mind 4's graphics that much, imo the graphics of AoE 3 DE put it to shame. I assume it'll be similar with AoM Retold as it'll run on the 3 DE version of BANG.
I agree about Byzantines. Also weird that Japanese were left out despite both being in AoE 2 since Age of Kings.
Regarding olive oil - it's a game. We all know mercenaries weren't paid with olive oil, but I guess it's there to link to the fact that Byzantines were in today's Greece and some civs in AoE history already had an additional resource e.g. Export for AoE 3's Asian civs or Influence for the African ones.
Malians and Ottomans were a free expansion.
Blood would've been a nice addition given all past AoE had it (even 3 although less noticable). Gore I don't mind at all.
Tbh, that's the reason while people play AoE in first place as at it's core it's an oldschool RTS with base building, much like past AoE games, Cossacks and Empire Earth. TW and CK are different beasts with a different focus.
A Global Conquest mode like Rise of Nations (and apparently also AoE 3 during development) would've been nice tho.
Pop cap in original game was 200, in campaigns sometimes 75.
Unit roster is almost the same for all civs. Unique units stand out.
So these things might be issues, but if they are for Aoe4, so they should be for a number of other RTS games.
First expansion came out a year after Release, same as for Aoe2. The other aoe2 expansions came out many years later for HD version.
I played the beta back when and if I tried to base my opinion on that, I would also not be too happy. But this also goes for any other game in beta stage.
You know aoe2 has a far lower playerbase than fortnite right? I can repeat that over and over again and I will be presenting facts and verifiable numbers in the same way you are.
But pointing out something obvious that you already understand and won't change your opinion on anything would be stupid wouldn't it? If I repeat that 20 more times, are you going to uninstall aoe2 for fortnite? I thought not. So why would I do that, other than out of spite because you keep doing the same thing to everyone here?
But fair enough, you are a credible source of things I already knew. Want to tell me the sky is blue next?
Sry brah you were literally asking for it, so I had to deliver
This would make sense if AoE 4 was an undeniably bad game that lost almost all of its players such as previously mentioned Company of Heroes 3 and if AoE 4 didn't had a good base to work and improve on. Reality, however, is different.
As said countless times before: it's okay to not like a game (or like it but have issues with it, like I do which is also the reason why I'm not playing as much AoE 4 as I would like to).
What's not okay is constantly coming back to it and adding nothing valuable to the conversation apart from "haha lol AoE 4 bad".
You say you don't care about AoE 4? Well, seems more like it's living rent free in your head.
So what? I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ what's popular, I'll play aoe2 or aoe4 over fortnite any day.
Your unprincipled appeal to popularity isn't compelling.
And yeah the sky thing has a lot of "well technically". For example right now its night time where I live, so the sky is not blue, its black. Not sure why that's the expression for something really obvious, but it is, so that's what I used.
There are no Line infantry
1 mangonel obliterate any blob of infantry INCLUDING THE IMPERIAL AGE one
On the other hand the cannon damage is springald but slightly better. Thats it.
It doesnt even have a proper splash damage radius.
2 different complete game.
People playing AOE4 is much less likely play AOE3 the same so
People change and play them interchangeably,
