Because many players are accustomed from action games to use those keys, if you do not who cares.

you can change it to hold down ctrl + w,a,s,d .
Like they said those keys are used for other stuff.

use . for iddle villis , for iddle army
move map with mouse
hot keys qweasd use them to build unit or estructures
you wont need the arrows or aswd
use crt+1 to asing your primary tc hot key1 crt+2 for your scout 2 so just by hit 1 or 2 you go there

Because good players move screen with the mouse and use as many keys to the left of the H and 7 keys as they can for production, select/centre screen on X and control group hotkeys. For spectating, you have the time to move your hand to the arrow keys anyway
