I would like to know this as well. Maybe the first dlc will be coming out this fall? A free update came out adding two new civilizations from the fall of last year. If AoE IV does not get at least one dlc this year that means a dlc or free update for adding new civilizations (although I would be surprised if two additional civilizations are added for free just like last time) that also means more civilizations being added is overdue and will leave me and various other people asking when the more civilizations will ever be added. It might seem like a dlc eventually coming out would be inevitable, but the question is when. Take notice as well that contrary to previous games the campaign videos are different as well than any other game from this series that look more realistic leading me under the impression that AoE IV perhaps may not have as many campaigns as the previous games.

Oct. 28th is the rumored date. Around the same time as the anniversary update last year. It's also how World's Edge promotes other DLC for the other AoE games. Announce and release in a couple months. :RelicII:

I commented too soon. The first dlc is confirmed. However, that still leaves a question as to what new civilizations could possibly be added to this dlc besides the Byzantines that specifically relate to the Middle East. Japan for example is not included for the Middle East while Persians overlap the Abassid Dynasty range as well. In theory there might be a Saladin/Ottoman campaign added as well.

They sure rushed the blurb in steam. It's missing words. "immerse in" instead of "immerse yourself in" for example. I guess more details will come in a longer more well thought out blurb.

I heard the Japanese and Egyptians were coming. I am guessing Mameluks and Medieval Japanese. Or will they do Japanese Samurai from the 19th century?

samurai AOE4 . i think its かまくらじだい,1185—1333

and /せんごくじだい 1467—1600 or 1615
Thanks Erica. So 1615 is the cutoff for gunpowder tech.

In the pictures of the dlc, one civ really looks like japanese. Maybe you can see there more what century they go for. (it is the picture with the pinkish trees)

I would love for them to be added to this dlc, but I have some doubts. Japan is not based on the Middle East.
