How does this upgrade work exactly. I heard it only affects farm gather rate but it says it affects all gather rates for food. Which is it?

Come on, Mongols don't even get farms. It increases gather rate for any kind of food that is done by villagers, even shore fish.

If you bothered playing any campaign, you probably noticed there are separate upgrades for gathering gold and stone there, which frankly does not really make sense. They did a lot of streamlining like that for multiplayer, removing redundant upgrades and all.

I mean what did you expect? Berries, sheep, deer all have separate upgrades? Who would even pay gold for an upgrade with a limited window of value?

Accordingb to Turnspender's spreadsheet, it doesnt affect hunts / shore fish.
