What option would you like added to not have a low standard for map design?
But the maps do look similar. Not their layouts (which you made a list of) but the way the environments look. He's right about "dry arabia" - there is no desert sand it's covered in grass regardless of which biome you pick with it. IMO the biomes don't make nearly enough of a difference and I think that's what he's talking about. The snow options don't really add much snow for example.
Don't really see the point of your reply trying to make him look stupid by saying he thinks arabia looks the same as archipelago but nice summary of how each map is laid out lol...
That is not accurate, go check Dry Arabia with the desert biome. Not covered in grass, obviously a few trees because the game needs wood. Other biomes have varied amount of grass and how dry it looks.
My reply was because I read "all maps look the same" to mean he was saying all maps look the same. His water or no water comment also suggested only 2 map options.
Type is one thing, biome (where comes all visual flares) another. But yes, it's pretty weird to have Dry Arabia on Steppes biome, but if you ask me, I like biome thingy - it would be nice to code that feature in RMS system of AoE2, but in the other hand, map creator can just provide 4 - 5 rms with biome settings.
EDIT: Well you cant manually select it, but you can add it to the map script to randomize it.
I know, that why I said "in the other hand".
I looked at "Gobi Desert" and I guess we have different opinions on the definition of covered. There is very little grass(more like dried shrubs) and a lot of sand. Even "Steppe" the grass is patchy and not consistent.
Some areas are patchy most are covered in grass... Also no oasis or palm trees for "dry arabia" just nice big spruce forests lol it doesn't look like an arabian desert in the slightest.
Like I said the biomes don't change much.. steppe and gobi look exactly the same but gobi has patches of dirt and steppe has patches of rocky stuff.
I did look at pictures and many from the Arabian peninsula look just like dry Arabia on the desert setting (with patchy dry shrubs and grass). As well as some pictures of the Gobi desert. I understand though you were expecting the endless sand dune parts of the desert.
I agree the trees could be changed.
I would not say most is covered in grass for Dry Arabia on desert.
Though the trees don't really fit regardless.
You are in every single post about this game always defending it lol. if its so good go play it and let other people dislike it if they choose
