Quick Match - Unbalanced for New Players

I Dont know if anyone else has had this issue but a number of times on different occasions this has happend to me and its happened to my friend... Basically We will Search for a Quick match, so we can play against other people around the same kind of level as us... but for some reason it puts us against level 50+ players, now i dont know how the multiplayer connects other players to eachother.. i dont know wether its level related or Skill Based or just Random... but its completely unfair when your a level 5 - 10 going up against a pro level 67 thats played 374 games to your 23 games ever played... like Cmon how is this supposed to be fair, its highly unlikley that the Level 5 will be able to beat the level 67 and if they do its clearly a Smurf account. but to be honest, i love playing competitivley with friends and on my own in 1v1s but ive taken to just playing with AI now the game has completley put me off playing online in Quick Games because im always put against super high levels. and you really dont stand a chance early game not one bit.

I guess i would just advise somehow making it a little more fair or have filters for the quick search that work with the level criteria. or if your playing with a friend and your doing a 2v2 with a friend, try and make it search for games where players are similar levels such as 4 levels below or higher... but 35 levels higher is just a piss take to be honest.

The account level tells you almost nothing about the skill level of the player.
My account level for example is 122 atm. But I still consider myself to be VERY bad at this game. I just know this is true, when I compare myself to some streamers.
My account level for example is so high, because I finished all campaigns and masteries. This gives a lot of exp, but teaches me almost nothing for PvP.

Btw, I never played a game with a matchmaking system, where the players were 100% satisfied with the matchmaking. I think many people just like to blame it out of frustration about losses.
Before all the matchmaking stuff, you had to find players for yourself. And it was way harder to find people at your skill level. So even if matchmaking systems are never without flaws, they help a lot.

You can make custom games and say in the title of the match, that only people with a specific account level range are welcome. I often see games like that. Right now there is one open named "3v3 max 20 lvl".

there are people who only do mastery challenges & which gives them more xp than actually playing matches. it is very very likely, that even though they are 35 levels higher than you, they have similar elo.

You need to play 10 matches in 1v1, 2v2, 3,v3 or 4v4. Then you will get a rank that will be on the aoe4 site ladder system. Then you will meet others that are around your rank.

you have a hidden MMR, potentially you'll have more balanced matches the more you play

In game level has nothing to do with how good you are in quick match. If it does matter, then I am clearly a better player than the Viper, themista and every other pro from the genesis tournament.

Masteries are an easy way to skyrocket level that requires very little skill and just some understanding/learning of the civs.

i've found my matches can be a little inconsistent but there is definitely a hidden elo ranking used for unmatched matchmaking so (unfortunately) all you can really do is keep playing and losing/get better until you get more consistently matched with similarly skilled players.

The leaderboards are case sensitive btw. took me days to figure that out lol

after that you have a hidden mmr and will get opponents similar to your mmr.

Player Level is just XP you earned in different challenges.
It says absolutely nothing about your skill.
