Is it historically accurate or historically 'authentic' LOL.
Jeanne d'Arc, Alena Arzamasskaia, Djamila Bouhired, Marie-Madeleine Jarret, Ōhōri Tsuruhime and Niijima Yae are just a few examples of female soldiers who fought for what they believed in and in some cases tragically died for it.

Honestly i hope they make all the units female and only males are used to chop trees. Maybe then we could stop complaining about girls being in GAMES or having units portrayed as females who in IRL may have been predominantly male. It's a fictional game that is not 100% based on history.
but this post is just plain stupid.
I was wondering why you all of a sudden started being racist by bringing black people into the thread out of nowhere...
...But then i saw your nickname and it all made sense.
The only occasion i can think of where everyone participated was in defence during an invasion. Elders women and children would help supply reinforce, and at the brink of defeat, put up arms. But out in a battle? Nah I dont think so.
But this is Microsoft, i wouldnt be surprised if it was intentionally progressive. Best way to teach history is by altering it, am i right?
If you learn your legitimate history from the GAME AoE.. then i extremely question your true understanding and knowledge of any history..
aside from the names of the 'teams' and names on the units this game teaches you about legit real history as about as much as Santa Claus does.
I have 0 issue when women being in any game, i question why so many other people do honestly. This isnt a 100% re-creation of the past. its a fictional rts with historical names tossed around.
But every times there are discussion as to why there are female soldiers in historical game, the commonality tend to be "well it's a video game...". Same for movies when they're out of place, "well it's a movie...". What's next, historical book must feature a female warriors because it's only a book?
Ya it was a bit of a controversy in the AOE3 community when it happened. But it was mostly overlooked due to AOE3 already being the red headed step child of the aoe series
Had this been done by the previous Ensemble Studio crews or, heck, developer of Warhorse Studio who made Kingdom Come: Deliverance, there's no way in hell the game would look like this; graphically speaking.
