What if rage quitting the human players are one of the few strategies that the A.I managed to learn with the supposed "machine learning" feature?
/s
So what you are saying is that the AI does exactly what its supposed to do(to maximize chances of doing damage) and you don't like it? Here is a little tip for you, that is what a human would try to do just as well. Attacking in different locations means you also need to split and it could very well do a lot of damage before you can defend. Going for the villagers, aka harassing is also a valid tactic that you can find in multiplayer battles. If you don't like it, you have something called walls, trust me, its there in the build menu...
Just try playing multiplayer and expect people to just mass an army and a-move as you a-move... I don't think you are going to win a lot of games.
Was waiting for this response lol.
Clearly you didn't read the part where I said this is NOT difficult, just annoying.
How is the A.I. going to defeat me if I have a group of 50 horses and they keep attacking with 10 separate groups of 10 soldiers?
It's just wacking at mosquitoes. You can easily kill them but they're annoying as ♥♥♥♥.
In every previous AoE game the A.I. would train units to create a massive army and attack when that army was ready. Especially in later stages of the game they would create MASSIVE armies.
Now if you survive the first 20 minutes of a game the A.I. basically stops making an effort and they'll just throw little groups at you until you decide to march in to their base to destroy it.
I am not sure how good it is implemented because skirmish games are crushing for me, while campaign missions are rock stable
It increases the odds of doing damage then if he would mass a huge army and a-move the army. After a certain skill level and unless the AI cheats like crazy its damn hard to make it win over humans (deepmind or AlphaStar AI for SC2). So what I am telling you is that the AI the best it can do to win and the tactics it uses now, are superior to what you expect it to do. If you want a real challenge, you need to fight real players but those are also using this annoying tactics. I've been playing harder difficulties and it does make larger armies (well as large as you can get in this game).
PS. If you are talking about late game and you don't have walls for AI splitting and harrasing workers... No idea what to tell you.
LOOK FOR A CONCENSUS for God's sake !
More or less the same problem with all of Relic's RTS games, from Dawn of War to Company of Heroes 2. What I've noticed is there seems to be a variable that controls the "attack group size" and if you notice the attacking groups are different sizes for each difficulty.
Or maybe we can just go back to the theory that the "machine learning" of the A.I decided it would be best to annoy you to surrender and make you play against real players.
The AI is broken and does not pose any danger on the maximum difficulty level. I hope in the next patch the AI will be fixed.
That said OP: if you want to fight big AI armies then let them build a wonder and you’ll see them dog pile their armies to defend that, I know it’s not the same as them attacking you but at least you’ll get your big battles.
Thanks for the advise! That's actually a very good idea.
Yesterday was a good day and I learned some new things that pretty much satisfied my desires for big battles.
Yesterday, for the first time I placed against the Delhi.
At first it was the same nonsense as with the other A.I. opponents. Small little groups attacking from all sides. No big battles, just running around to kill the little raider groups.
But it didn't take long before they started attacking with groups...of elephants!!!
And because of the enormous HP pool of these beasts, the battles take longer, and are more interesting. So it feels like a big battle. Something to prepare for.
Absolutely love playing against the Delhi. Finally an opponent that feels worthy.
