HRE infantry speed bonus
Does the Unique technology that increase the speed of infantry units for the HRE function correctly? Even after researching it I get the feeling that my infantry units still can't catch enemy infantry units.

Even after researching it, I still get the feeling that my infantry units can't catch up to fleeing enemy siege.

HRE got the least amount of polish in the game. Their Man-at-Arms technologies appear to be bugged too.

I just tested it in a game against the ai. As HRE my spearmen, man-at-arms and crossbowmen were slightly slower than the enemy counterparts with the technology researched. Almost makes me think that it's bugged and makes the units slower instead.

Yup. HRE has has the least polish. Prelate randomly stops buffing workers, half of the landmarks cant use emergency repair, MAA weapon upgrades cancel out each other, speed buff not working. The race description says that the HRE can upgrade wall towers cheaper, but there are no upgrades for the wall tower. ect. Bugs, false/outdated tooltips... HRE was one of the factions i was looking forward to play as, but for now i will stick to the Rus.

it might depend on the faction you were comparing it to. IIRC, Chinese infantry trade defense for speed.

Do you have ranged units mixed in marching alongside them? Group move slows down to the slowest unit.

Could be bugged, I haven't looked for any difference tbh, but those are the two things I immediately thought of.

Huh. I've noticed the speed increase doesn't seem to work, or at least doesn't look like it works. I haven't noticed the mace and 2h upgrade canceling each other out though. Visual upgrade and the stats change accordingly from what I've seen.

If both weapons are researched, the +6 bonus given by the mace upgrade will go down to +3. At least according to the unit card.

I've just tested it, the infantry bonus speed works, but it's a very small bonus that doesn't seem to make much difference.

If you look at the "Tiles per second" stat, you can confirm it works and you can notice the very slight difference if you pay attention.

The Two-Handed Weapons tech is indeed bugged though and halves the bonus damage from the Heavy Maces tech.

Yeah, it gives them +15 HP, though I'd rather the bonus damage.

Here is a breakdown of some of the HRE infantry mace/2h buffs. Seems they do work well. 3:27 to just see a stat breakdown and skip all the fluff/explanation.

Seems like it's worth it to just skip the 2h tech altogether.

Ah, so it's take one or the other for full effect and if you take both then it balances it out?
