Or maybe, a simple update then allow you to set the pop higher.
Edit: I really miss the blood and gore level of aoe 2 and of the relic games like dawn of war and company of heroes
Why are you so against having the option of different population caps? Why does this personally affect you if you're still able to have 200 population in your matches, while those of us who would like higher caps have that option as well? Personally I enjoy larger battles and seeing streams where half of that 200 population is villagers and not your military is a huge turn off for me and I know I'm not the only one.
I will watch and see what they do because I personally have no interest in buying unless we're giving more flexible options.
Lets make AOE4 50 only :)
Right, but you kinda dodge the question. Should the community need to step in when the devs could easily do this to cater to the community themselves? You can balance competitive play around 200 population all you like, but what's wrong with options?
