Cannot link Xbox Live Account [solved]

The game is out for a while now and still no update on this. this really is disappointing.

After login it says "The account you want to log in with is not intended for this environment. Your application may not be configured properly."
Im using my normal xbox account that i use every day...

EDIT: Seems to be a general problem: Also people in Age of Empires Forum reporting this

EDIT 2: AOE Dev is telling me to contact support and there isnt even an option for this, only a compendium of errormessage but nothing regarding this problem.

EDIT 5: Got quote beneath back from support after linking different threads on steam, aoe-forum and reddit.
EDIT 6: new dev post saying they are working on an update, but no ETA yet
