Jeanne d'Arc's Inaccurate and Insensitive Portrayal
Jeanne d'Arc rarely carried a sword or lance into battle, she preferred to carry a banner with which to inspire, and not a weapon to kill. In fact at her trail she said she "never killed a man". The way she seems to be portrayed in this game is incredibly historically inaccurate and frankly insulting to her as a person. Which of course could be overlooked in a game that didn't claim historical accuracy, but this game claims to embrace historical accuracy (perhaps only the aspects convenient to the developers personal views?). Seems like it would have been very easy and historically accurate to have made Jeanne carry a banner and give a buff. To prove strength through a sword is easy, to prove strength through ones spirit is difficult and a big part of why we still talk about Jeanne d'Arc today.

cry more.

its a GAME. get over it or don't, w/e.

I'm sure a woman of the 1400's really cares that she carries a sword in a fictional video game in 2021. ffs.

I've read no where where this this games claims to be a ***100%*** representation of actual history. it's not. therefore they can do w/e the F they want with it. I hope at this point they start to throw zombies and aliens in it just to make all the cry babies and the so called history 'know it alls' here shut up for once and just enjoy the GAME.

Jeanne stood by her values to the point where it cost her her life. I'm sure she would have stood up to Microsoft and Relic too.

Such tripe.

How many battles have you fought with a sword to defend your freedom/family/nation oh all knowing knight. I'm sure its so easy.

Its easy to say. don't fight, fighting is the easy way. As you sit in your comfy air conditioned home drinking a starbucks while you play a game in safety. ALL Thanks to the people who were brave enough to lift their swords and defend freedom and their nations for themselves and future generations.

this crap gives me headaches lol.

It's difficult to accurately present complex historical figures. Not every company is up for the task. I'm sorry that they chose to weaken her strength as she is such an inspirational historical figure who has remained relevant for hundreds of years and will probably remain relevant forever. She's right up there with Shakespeare.

Isgreen quotes:

“I love that responsibility. I want that responsibility. I want Age of Empires 4 to be a trusted source of history. I think we can do that justice; I would be over the moon if people were like, ‘man, this is legit!’ because there’s been some shaky history in the previous Age of Empires games," Adam Isgreen said at the time.”

“We’ve gone to great lengths to make sure that our history is accurate to the places.”.

“This is a fresh start for us. We want to modernise the series and that means we are going to do things differently.”

wow amazing stuff. Again, I retort. I have yet to read or see anything that states this game A0E4 is a 100% representation of actual history. Until you can show me that someplace, then this game is FICTION. Sure it can be based on historical things, or names, or places. But again I don't see anything that says, this game is 100% historically accurate.

if this game is lets say for giggles 90% (LOL) accurate to history. That leaves 10% to do whatever the F they want to do. And when you are talking history that's a lot of stuff lol. Some of these armies never even actually fought each other in battle. its FICTION. as in NOT real. That's fine for me, game looks super fun... But you all thinking this game is some kind of AP college history class is a joke, because some historical names are tossed around lol.

Also you can take a movie like Lincoln Vampire Hunter. To you that must be real history. I mean like AoE4 its based on a real time period, real people, real weapons, real places, a lot of real world history was used and inspired for it. Oh but wait. there is one catch. he kills vampires. yea Lincoln didn't kill vampires. To me that is a pure fiction movie. To you its legit history because well, its pretty much real minus the vampire part. Heck there are even people who will legit IRL argue with you that vampires are real or were real...

So like AoE4, Lincoln vampire hunter is 90% (LOL) history, because the only non historical part was him hunting vampires. So because the names were real, places, weapons, time period, etc. It has to be a historical movie. Enough IS 'real' to call it historically accurate. I mean right? lol

NO. if its not 100% accurate to history then its fiction. period. So again. show me where it is mentioned AoE4 is a 100% accurate representation of history. Until then this GAME is fictional and I'm going to enjoy playing it and not act like its some kind of history test and hope they add tons more female units lol. I will enjoy it all the same.

funny really. You come here to bash with words, but then you'll turn around and support with that cash.

i can already tell you which the companies prefer as a sign of support...

way to show em.. Keep living an Oxymoron.

Nothing they said suggests an oxymoron, you clueless person.

And you call me embarrassed?

No, they said that you're embarrassing yourself. English can be hard, can't it?

And they're correct. Your self-presentation and whining and crying all over the forums because you can't stand that people are legitimately criticizing this "AoE4", is cringy and completely embarrassing of you. And if you aren't smart enough to realize it, then that's even more embarrassing of you. It's painful to watch you present yourself as you've been doing.

Totally. Following you from the one thread with a new post in this forum to the other thread with the new post in this forum.

Do you ever say something that isn't immediately identifiable as unintelligent?

There's a difference between positive attention and negative attention. And if you figure it out, you should then be able to reduce the embarrassment you bring to yourself.

Lol well thanks for 'following'.

I don't really care about positive or negative attention..

You have a thread here literally where someone is complaining about Joan of arc and how the game has portrayed her Insensitively lol.. In a fictional war game lol.

Then goes on to talk about how Joan would stand up to MS. Those evil bastards lol.

Then this thread goes into MS and 'agendas'.. on an AoE4 forum. LMAO. i mean common man. I had to comment on this one.

I think they think MS is as evil as you do.. and like you they still drop that cash.

it's amusing to me.

And i really do like this game from what ive seen.. I cant wait for it to come out. :lunar2019wavingpig:

It seems you are oblivious to a lot of things (English, logic, truth...), and not just whether you're getting negative attention.

And yes, there are people complaining about the historical accuracy in a game which the developers have boasted about the historical accuracy of. And then there's you, crying about all the complaints different people are making.

I think they think MS is as evil as you do.. and like you they still drop that cash.

Microsoft's evil history of using thuggish practices to buy-out and shut-down competition and steal their ideas, of terrible customer service, of lying in their marketing, of stealing people's data, and of much else isn't a matter of opinion.

I haven't dropped any cash on this game, and if I did, it wouldn't change my view of Microsoft or the fact of the things Microsoft has done and continues to do.

But since you're dropping cash on this game, then, according to your own (non) logic, you are either a hypocrite, or a lover and supporter of evil.

it's amusing to me.

Simple minds are easily amused.
