fans of this franchise never liked cartoon graphics, i don't understand why they try it for 4th time?? aoe myth,aoe3 and aoeonline failed for this same reason

I understand all the sheeps like this art nowdays, but if you are going to go full fortnite why not make a new game?, i would bet atleast 90% of the age of empires fans are going to hate this artstyle

AoE2 wasn't cartoony, it was just made 20 years ago the concept was always to be more realistic and historical, this is a 2021 game that looks like fortnite or league of legends designed for children with no blood, and cartoony animations, for that children market

how do you call then this vibrant colorful textures, and bright grass bright white textures,vibrant colorful flags, non realistic walls and lame animations with no blood? children art?

AoE 2 as well as AoE 1 are cartoony thanks to their 2d graphics which make them look timeless in both OG Version and DE.
And AoE 4 looks nowhere near Fortnite and LoL. Before you make such claims you better should play the game yourself.

I think you simply don't know the difference between cartoonish visuals and 3D visuals if you think every AoE games after AoE2 looks "cartoonish".

Easy and simple: due to the style they're drawn they appear in an cartoonish yet not entirely unreal style which makes them overall cartoon. It's literally the same with every other AoE, including 4.
AoE IV also uses colours from previous entries as Art Director Zach Schläppi mentioned in an interview so their visuals are similar.

And you need a new set of eyes if you don't see it. Look at similar 2d games such as Caesar III, Pharaoh, Zeus, Patrician 3 - they all look cartoonish to a certain extent which isn't something bad but rather something which makes them look timeless.

Realistic and cartoonish look don't exclude each other as I pointed out with my examples. "Hahaha"

And as I mentioned some time ago in another thread: 2 years ago, some people bashed AoE 2 DE for the exact same reason.
