There is actually a different TG game that is a rogue lite deck builder.
They never said it would even feature the same story. The early plans previewed in the demos was using the boardgames premise and characters, but lead you down different routes in order to not spoil the board game, so it was never meant as a boardgame replacement, but rather an extension.

Uh the game you are currently playing is 100% different form the original game that we thought we were getting. I don't understand your issues. Many of us wanted a real campaign just like the BG but we didn't get that either.
I think it could have been clearer in the Kickstarter. After all, there was a pledge for the digital on the original Kickstarter: "One Steam Code for Digital edition of Tainted Grail for PC" and in the very update you are quoting it said a lot of the writing would be used in the digital campaign. But now it sounds like the entire storyline from the campaign will not be used.
So while I agree it wasn't promised to be an exact port, I thought it'd be a lot closer to the tabletop game than what it sounds like it will be. And again, I'm excited for the game, just surprised at how different the final game is from what I was picturing based off the early descriptions.
But yeah, the total design change was a surprise :D lets see how it turns out :) and with it being even further from the board game, an actual boardgame port coming one day might not be too impossible 🤷♂️
A Dark Arthurian Bethesda style RPG in the grim, warped world of Tainted Grail has me very excited.
You all did incredible work on Conquest but this is a whole new level. I have faith but be wary of biting more than you can chew. Go deep rather wide, consolidate and maximise a rich smaller world teeming with choices and possibilities rather a vast shallow expanse.
Fairly certain I qualify for the 2 for 1 deal but if not then the goodwill from Conquest has earned my support.
For the love of King Arthur please include third person! Character Customisation and First person are nipples on a bloke. It's a thing, sure but meaningless.
Lots of hard and stressful days are ahead of you all but also I hope plenty of satisfying and triumphant ones.
Best of Luck, may the Menhirs protect you.
I really liked the story campaign and i was hoping to continue this campaign to find out more of the backstory of the two heroes.
Now the devs make the decision to change the game into another mainstream open world game and canceled the story-driven campaign game.
I´m sad about this because i´ve played enough skyrim- and rogue-like games and i will now refund both games.
What I think he's saying is he hates the redesign and now no longer wants the games because of the redesign.
if so then this is indeed great news
