Will there be cities like in Skyrim or Kingdom come deliverance?
Now it looks good, but unfortunately has a feeling of souls-like emptiness. You know - Boring Ring type of empty world with a few NPCs and tons of enemies.

Hopefully there are also cities planned with NPCs that just dont stand there but have their own routines and so on, only then it will be on pair with true open world RPGs like KCD2, Witcher 3, RDR2 etc.

ATM NPC will generaly go to sleep at nigth, other than that i noted that some npc wander a bit but, exept for going to sleep at nigth, they mostly stand in place.

Hope they get to tweak this a bit. In that sense Avowed was a disappointment, NPCs were just standing mannequins

well these will at least run away or try to slaugher you if you get caught stealing or harming an npc.

currently biggest problem. store stash is neitehr reset nor deleted.
what ever you sold can be bought back even weeks later.
leads however to performance issues espec in populated locations.

Which is normal. That’s all NPC’S have been for literally decades.

thats the problem lol..... we expect more these days, also saying its been like that for decades is one of the worst arguments Ive seen lol
I’m saying that expecting an indie studio to be the studio that changes the industry standards for NPC’s, is a brainless expectation.

Keep hoping though.
I wouldn't expect, nor would I think it's fair to expect a game with a normal budget to create content that can rival the top big studios in size.
I hope and I am optimistic about whatever will be in there being of good quality, but that's it, I don't expect massive cities or sophisticated AI routines/behaviours.
You need a big budget and a lot of development time for something like that.

Ahh yes, the toxic clown show is here defending why we shouldn't expect anything good from open world rpg games.

How dare I hope that there will be basic NPC routines and cities in a game that has 7-10 million budget.

Because you don't understand, that's okay though. There's nothing wrong with not having the necessary knowledge to know why your expectation is unrealistic.

There's an irony to insulting someone and calling them a "toxic clown" when they say something you don't like. 🤔 I wonder what you might call that kind of immediate, over-reactive, negative vitriol caused by a small, non-consequential thing.

Imagine being a toxic fedora hat wearer that jumps into a peaceful discussion where he hasn't anything of value to add and starts blasting with "BrAinLeSS expectations!!!1 For DACADES npcs just stand there and do nothing, and now you come here with these brainless expectations!!@11 have dare you, you DONT UNDERSTAND! I iz cleverer than u!"...then gets called out for being toxic.

Suddenly enables his victim mode and starts acting as a victimized (wannabe) intellectual :D

I have zero time for likes of you, be gone. Probably a Tate fan.

I expected a discussion with like-minded folks that expect the Skyrim-like contender (precisely why there is a such a big interest into this game).

Just curious, where did you get that budget range from?

Also, the only toxic messages I'm reading in this thread are from you. Tone it down. It's okay to have high expectations, but saying the game is a "Skyrim-like contender" shows how unrealistic your expectations are. Try not to immediately disrespect people who have actually played the game (and many versions of EA) and are trying to give you their experience.

That was all very unnecessary. Thanks for proving my point though.

Avowed was a terrible game in general, they put 99% of effort into looks and flashy combat with no consideration for any depth to the world. They said it would be akin to Skyrim. Oh how I laughed.

Dungeons seem better than Skyrim as is overall combat. It won't be hard to top Skyrims story. Skyrim = Overall World and Mods. Everything else is average fare.

If you think about it like it's a first person perspective of their top down ARPGs, it makes sense.
In their ARPGs, none of the NPCs even move, and there isn't even a day night schedule in some of them.

It's basically that but first person. They didn't even try to make an actual first person game. They made a first person diablo.
