No point. The Attribute system rewards focused builds, since every point in a main attribute for your build (Strength for Melee, Dexterity for Ranged, and Spirituality for Magic) directly boosts your damage and gives other bonuses. There is no reason to invest in any attributes except your main, besides getting some Endurance for HP/Stamina or fulfilling weapon prerequisites.

Furthermore, heavy armour basically nullifies magic use, as does the (arguably) best light armor in the game.

This means that for maximum efficiency you should stick to one playstyle only. You can use support magic (healing, distraction, shield) to a certain extent, and it makes playing the easiest build (stealth archer) even easier. But otherwise, if you go melee, don't expect to use bows and magic, and vice versa.

If you really want, for example, to use bows before you reach a certain level, then it's better to have a ranged build and then respec. (Be aware, however, that skills which grow from use, including weapon skills, do not respec).

The updates definitely make hybrid builds more viable, but imo they already are. And after a certain point, even the most OP builds like archer favor a certain amount of diversification. For example, Dexterity for ranged damage but eventually perception for sneak and crit damage.

I've already reached level 45-ish and cleared almost everything in the two areas. I probably won't be replaying until the game comes out, so won't be following new builds much. So I can only comment on the builds up to that point.

I never said hybrid builds weren't viable, just that they weren't optimal (might change with updates of course). The way Attributes work(ed), there was simply zero sense in investing in anything besides Primary for damage bonus, and a bit Endurance for hp/stamina. Everything else would be purely for weapon prerequisites. But for archers the best bow (Powerbow) doesn't require anything besides Dexterity. So long as I played archer (until level 30, when I respecced to heavy armor melee), I've sunk every single point in Dex.

im heavy armor melee 2h specced and bow is still superior so i just use bow as i keep building my char more into melee tank. bows are ridiculous.
