I can't leave the Asylum Island.

I click on the boat and the game loads up the next area...... and it crashes every time. Should I verify the integrity of the game files or find the newest update? I just bought the game a few hours ago.

Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date and that you have no windows updates pending. Those two things cause issues all the time so you have to make sure you stay on top of it. Definitely verify the files if you're having problems too as that can also work. Other than that make sure you meet the minimum hardware requirements but if you played through the beginning section with no issues then it probably isn't that.

I had to turn my graphic's settings to low just to get passed the Island.

Verifying integrity isALWAYS a good thing to do when you encounter issues :) but try putting graphics preset to low, that should indeed help. The open world part is unfortunately not very optimized yet

It was discussed here on forum, try set in graphic option to low. Once you get past this point you can customize your options on next island.

My computer is kinda beefy, so I don't know why the game would just crash like that. My card is up to date, and I verified the files. I don't understand. I'll give the whole graphics thing a shot. Thanks everyone. I'll let you all know how it goes.

because the open world part currently isnt very optimized and occupies more VRAM than most "average" cards may have (8-12gb)
