Does Skeleton Army just not work?

Title.

I channel the spell, then the skeleton appears. Then the skeleton immediately just dies in the same place it appeared. I tried it in combat and outside of combat, same result.

you need enough mana to summon them, and then additionally enough mana to sustain them. they come with an upkeep. and if your mana runs out, they die.

Huh, I did not know that. I'm surprised I never noticed that.

Haven't played much but there seems to be other problems with summons...they basically can't hit anything the AI is pretty bad.

Yeah played some more and even leveled up the summon skill tree and it's really underwhelming.
