File Verification every time I load the game!
Does everyone have this game load up and then start a file verification process that seems to initially go quickly up to 80-82% then slow down, taking over 10 minutes to complete in the process?

It is annoying in my opinion. Why is this even necessary? No other game does this although other games have one-off shader compilations, which I don't think this is what this is since this happens every time I load the game.

If the game does not load then Steam has its own very handy and very reliable file verification tool.

I really hope this is removed from the release version 1.0 of the game later this week otherwise it would actually put me off playing it if I have to wait 10 minutes every time to play it (reminding me of those old Commodore 64 cassette games I used to play in the 1980s that took 10-20 minutes to load)...

AFAIK it only happens after an update.
The game is not installed to C:\Program Files (x86) but to a separate Steam folder on another internal drive.
The issue is not with where Steam or the game is installed as I have hundreds of games installed across 14 different drives and this is unique only to this game.

I believe this is issue is caused by me having used DLSS Swapper to replace the older version of DLSS with the latest one which forces the game to reverify the files which then triggers Steam to do the same on next launching the game, as happened last night, and replace the updated file with the original one.

Now I get that this may be a problem with an online-only game, but this is a single player game, right, so why should it matter if I want to replace the DLSS with a newer version? If the game crashes or has issues then I just use DLSS Swapper to revert to the original version, problem solved!

One workaround would have been to use the NVIDIA App to force the latest version of DLSS via injection but, unfortunately, this game is not supported yet and doesn't show up in the list of recently played games on my system.

I really hope they remove this from the final build because no other single player I play behaves this way.

This does not happen for me. But some seem to have this issue.
Can confirm this is a thing. Purchased the game yesterday. Come to today, launch game, verification, then closes the game to let steam verify files, ti then launch again only for it to verify files again.

This is whacked out!
This happens anytime there's an update, even a small one, get used to it. It's been this way since Early Access.

Was wondering if this might be the case. Mine's on an external drive. Might move it to C: if it continues after the initial post update run. Thanks! :)

"Only"? There seems to be an update every day. What was early access for then?
