Combat difficulty
I'm about 7hrs in and have struggled with combat the whole time. I love the feel of the contact, very crunchy but I find myself saving after every encounter. I've focused on a sword and shield with some archery. I had a hard time with the catacombs but finally made it through. I just recently finished the mission where soldiers have been sent to a stronghold and not returned.

My issues seem to be that if an enemy hits you they take a quarter of your HP. Compound this with you are usually mobbed. One enemy in the stronghold sees you and the whole base floods out after you. While that's realistic it's not typical in a game. Just like your Capitan sending one guy to take on a whole stronghold isn't realistic. I feel like I'm having to cheese quite a bit to complete fairly early missions. When night comes and there are those wisp enemy's everywhere, I can't even beat a single one! I think I'm lvl 10.

I guess my question is do I just suck at combat or does the system suck. Answer is probably somewhere in between. I can't parry to save my life, I use the dodge quite a bit with mixed results. Slowing time seems to slow the enemy and me. The enemy tracks me as I move and we are both slow, what's the point?

Love the atmosphere and want to really like this game but difficulty and lack of missions is causing me to loose interest. Might come back in a few months.

Same issue here. I am level 11 and two melee hits from an enemy downs me and blocking completely depletes my stamina. There must be something I am missing.

wait until you get to 30-40 and youll be a god running around and being totally unkillable. this game is horribly balanced.

I just can't seem to parry, but rarely. Not sure about the timing. It feels like it's where it needs to be, but I still take tons of damage, even when they get their stam drained.

Well I feel better then haha. Elder scrolls games gave you so much to explore and enemies added to the exploration but this game enemies feel like a barrier, not that there is a ton to explore though.

I saw many people struggling with combat, while personally playing greatsword, maxing strength and dmg I outscaled the enemy quickly and one shotting them with powerful attack.

I play the game a bit differently than most rpgs. Common sense is the best thing you can use; you really can't just level your character and expect to win most of the time. When you become really OP, sure, but at first, no, you have to play a bit more logically. It reminds me a bit of Cyberpunk 2077 when it first came out: I was weak as hell fighting everyone. Once I got implants and great guns, I destroyed everything. Sneak around a bit. Draw out enemies. Fight defensively. I highly doubt you will be able to take more than a few hits the whole game.

Pop a bunch of regeneration potions/food, the enemies can't even touch my health unless they one shoot me and I've only used those statue's to increase my max health :D

Bow or spell. Stealth. Most games like this favor this approach at early levels.

Yes, early on your too weak to charge into situations like Conan. You have to sneak with bow and try to deal with one enemy at a time.
