Advice for first playthrough
I just got the game, I'm on veteran, and going for deathless. Does anybody have suggestions for me?

I am still debating survival because if it just adds dumb survival mechanics to everything, then that's stupid. If it genuinely changes combat in a significant way, then I will probably add it.

Survival makes it so you can only save at a campfire. I grew up playing old school dungeon crawlers so I enjoy not having the option to savescum.

Well, I have to delete my character on death anyway, so save-scumming doesn't concern me. Though, I will admit that not having saves in case of game crashes or the like is kind or risky.

Veteren is fine, but the only thing Survival does is turn it into "Hardcore" where if you die you need to start over, and really, the game doesn't have enough quality for limitations of that, some balancing is wonky, and enemies arent level scaled, so you can very well just be put into a "oh im dead now" situation without warning. Its more like Gothic in that sense.

Save it for a second playthrough where your game knowledge is better, ig.
If you are going for melee, I recommend Bonkmaster - two handed, heavy armor, pump strenght and endurance and spend your points into the last tab, where armor tree is. Helps a lot.
Enemies are sponges, can do dangerous combos and can mess you up pretty badly.

Or go for summoner to overwhelm and distract enemies.

Glass cannon mage is option too.

What I PERSONALLY don´t recommend is stealth archer - this isn´t Skyrim - really. Or if you want to play as him, start with some durable build, rack up skill points and attributes and then re-spec into it.

Other than that - good luck. The difficulty spike is pretty big. In first region (after prologue) I could smash everyone with one or two hits. In the second region, 3-4 heavy hits.

Aaand don´t try to explore and then get quests. Some of them aren´t registered and makes a lot of problems. Becuse this damn game has SO MANY plot holes and if you do something unexpected, it´s high chance to brick your game (non spoiler example - if you have two faction, don´t kill both quest givers or important. I know, it´s wtf advice...but it´s true).

Don't pet the Croakmaw and continue to play the game afterwards from that save.

theres amulets you can find that prevent death and i would rush for the kings power that prevents death. also the AI breaks when you get enough summons so the only thing you'll die to is fall damage/bugs
