Well, I have to delete my character on death anyway, so save-scumming doesn't concern me. Though, I will admit that not having saves in case of game crashes or the like is kind or risky.
Save it for a second playthrough where your game knowledge is better, ig.
Enemies are sponges, can do dangerous combos and can mess you up pretty badly.
Or go for summoner to overwhelm and distract enemies.
Glass cannon mage is option too.
What I PERSONALLY don´t recommend is stealth archer - this isn´t Skyrim - really. Or if you want to play as him, start with some durable build, rack up skill points and attributes and then re-spec into it.
Other than that - good luck. The difficulty spike is pretty big. In first region (after prologue) I could smash everyone with one or two hits. In the second region, 3-4 heavy hits.
Aaand don´t try to explore and then get quests. Some of them aren´t registered and makes a lot of problems. Becuse this damn game has SO MANY plot holes and if you do something unexpected, it´s high chance to brick your game (non spoiler example - if you have two faction, don´t kill both quest givers or important. I know, it´s wtf advice...but it´s true).
