Who is Maug meant to be.
Found her in a tomb and shes just standing there, says shes centuries old, and steals nick knacks..
Is she suppose to be some myth i've never heard of?

From my own research she seems to be made up by the devs but the type of fae/fairy creature she's supposed to be is still from celtic folklore.

I figured she's just some old deity/entity of the concept of inconvenient loss. Like loosing that one sock you wanted to wear to match your other one and its just vanished, or you lose that coin you keep in the car for a trolley at your local supermarket. Its just a pain, not a huge pain, but enough to warrant a deity of that and the superstition that follows.
Yes i agree but the salt over the shoulder reference is quite old, I just wondered if she was legitimately a real myth.
Could be a reference to Hairy Meg, sometimes called Maug Vuluchd, which is kind of a brownie spirit from Celtic mythology. Brownies are known for stealing knickknacks, and this one was specifically known for occasionally stealing babies through the chimney, changeling style.

Yeah this sounds about right!

I liked her explanation of why she steals minor items. It's the little things that really annoy humans! I envisage her feeding off the negative energy, rather like Colin Robinson in "What We Do In The Shadows". There's always an inexhaustible supply of that. 😄
