Thousands? Are you cheating or something? I've played for 50 hours, I'm a "completionist" in that I loot every single container and collect every single harvest-able plant and turn all of it into food... and I haven't even made 100 food items, let alone thousands.

32GB of RAM might be the problem, if this is a bug then it's because it is holding info about each of those items in RAM and not clearing it out occasionally. I HAVE sold thousands of items (not food items specifically...) and the performance is still perfect, but I also have 128GB of RAM.

It's obviously an exaggeration.

It's likely a bug, no fix until devs do something.

It's been noted that crafted items that are sold to vendors in mass quantity are tanking frames.
The devs know about the issue. They are working on a fix. There are a few things you can do now if you want.

1. Buy back the food and eat it all.
2. The devs said the items in the buy back tab do eventually go away, but it takes multiple real world hours until they do so. So eventually it should get better, you could tough it out until then.

I just bought mats for food, craft food and sold and repeat to make money to upgrade my armor.

I don't have enough money to buy all of it xd

Oh if you can profit from that I consider it an exploit, I don't like ruining games for myself by exploiting them like that. It's just not fun to sit there doing that instead of just playing the game, you get plenty of money through normal means.

Already have a thread for this, tldr buying back the items or destroying them will not fix the issue.

EDIT: I was too slow/ninja'd, hehe. :)

Might want to look through this thread. One person did try to buy back all from the BuyBack tab, waited for them to disappear and it didn't help. No idea tho. Nice to hear dev's seem aware of it, hopefully fixed/solution soon. At the moment it would appear to be "wait or start over" - and for those who haven't encountered it yet, don't do any huge mass craft/selling.

Leave the game on, unpaused, in a safe area like town (I'd recommend the abandoned house in the Horns Keep, furthest right door from main entrance) when you go to bed. Turn Autosave to every 10 minutes and when you get up, stuff should be gone from the vendors and hopefully your lag will be gone too. The way I've gotten around this is only by selling a little at a time as I explore and make trips.

I play on hardcore survival mode so auto save not work for me.

Are you 100% sure that after 3 real hours vendor buyback will reset and fps go back normal?

If that's an exploit for you, what about the cheese spell? :)

I mean, you're cheesing the economy...
Buying mats then making food from them is normal way to level up cooking, so why this normal mechanic break the game? So we have to finish game without looting and crafting because whole game can become broken because of it?
