How's the writing?
I already read that this apparently has some modern phrases like "fight like a person" which is cringy, not gonna lie but if this is the only instance and the writing apart from that is excellent I don't mind.

So, how is the writing in general? Can it hold up to say, something like the Pathfinder games? Or Kingdom Come? Or is it the kind of writing you eventually just skip cause it's so boring that you can't be bothered?

There's a handful of dialog that is far too "modern" for my tastes. It takes me out of the game completely. I feel like too many of the NPCs I've met are far too cheery to fit into the grim dark tone the environment and story create.

Everything fits very well, and the main narritive of the Arthurian lore is VERY interesting as well as any discussions about weird creatures that exist in it like the Fae, etc.

However, where it lacks in that regard is most peasantry talking, but imo, that seems realistic too. Ofc Fisherman Rick who fishes all day doesnt have much to talk about aside from Fish.

I decided to give it a bash and honestly, I'm actually pretty intrigued by the story and the writing. Certainly better than Oblivion (Remastered). This kinda feels like a better version of that.

Majority is good but some of the dialogue is unneededly quirky or too modern.

I enjoy the writing. I am not picky over 'modern phrases' or whatever, this is a fantasy world not a historical one.

Dialogs are great, most games give dialogs that completely unrelatable, and the answers are vague and weird. This game does it right, nice choice of questions to ask for npc and nice responses.. its a labor of love, its noticable, especially after playing oblivion remaster.

Is Fisherman Rick the same guy as Rick the Technician... wondered where he ended up after Jedi
It's mostly pretty good. If you like the writing in Elden Ring then you'll like this. It's obviously heavily inspired by the Elden Ring and Souls aesthetic. The music especially is extremely similar.
I feel like I can let the writing slide because of the smaller budget and dev team. Every time I I get kicked out of my immersion, I just remember how cheap the game cost me when I bought it and I am at peace.
I've only watched people play it, but the writing is good from what I've seen and it's not woke either.

It can go from "okay" to pretty awful and immersion breaking in a span of few lines.
Whoever wrote this, doesn't really respect the game's setting.
Im still in ACT I near the village and fortress and I can definitely say there was a liberally minded/feminist woman on the writing team without having to look up the credits.

Its been noticeable only in a few characters/lines so war, but its there. You learn to spot it after so long. Its mostly concerns the male/female dynamic and family questions, but those tendencies are present.

It hasnt ruined the flow of the game and Im not sure how it goes.

If it stays on the side character/quest level, it wont ruin the game, but it definitely makes me consider never buying anything at release without running proper investigations myself, because these people have no place in fiction.
I dont want some chick projecting her world view and grievances into my entertainment on any level.

This issue is present as well.

More then acceptable. I dislike some modern phrases that are used here and there though.,

There's writing, but then there's story. The story is quite good so far. The writing could use some polish.
