Spoilers beyond this point. Getting the gong, if you kill Galahad, and tell the Cpt to ♥♥♥♥ himself
I do not know if this could be considered a bug, or just an oversite, but this needs to be addressed. If you go and talk to Sewel, then tell the Captain that you do not want to deal with his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, he will turn the town against you, and you cannot get the gong made. I also killed Galahad in this run

I might have overlooked something, but I am stuck in the game after. I cannot move on, because I cannot make the gong to get to the next part of the main quest. I have tried going to every other blacksmith, and it is the same thing everywhere. This needs to be addressed, because now, I am feeling like there is only two ways to get through this.

Any help with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ would be appreciated, because I love this game a lot, and it would be a shame for it to end for me here.

Sadly- there are more situations like this as you progress. It's hard to shake the feeling that it wasn't properly tested before full release. Which is a shame, cause the game has tons of potential.

I can't use potions while pulling the sword....

you actually can if you pull out your weapon before using excalibut. also, use time stop ability, you'll have to use like 1-2 potions instead of 10

Thats how I also did it.
You can pull that thing out at the same time as you get there the first time.

that sucks to hear. I also got stuck here because I wanted to not side with the tyrant galahad or the liar brandon(♥♥♥♥ whatever his name's spelling is, the VO's say brandon). So yeah I also had to reload saves from very far back. I really think they shouldn't let you make these choices if they don't want you to. its stupid that they do this. I'm past the refund window so I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

That's what I do. Controller or Keyboard, I can't use potion while pulling and my weapons are pulled out...

Ok I did it with time stop and like 10 dish cumulated. Thx for the help with time stop.

I didn't even think of this.
Thank you everyone. Not the ideal ending to that questline, but I can move on now.
So let me recap what you said:

You killed Galahad, but then told the Captain of the keep to go to hell. Correct?

No, this isn't a bug. You made a choice and faced the consequences.

As other said, you can pull the sword at any point without doing any quest. This method exists to prevent you from hardlocking yourself from progressing the game.

it's a bad design decision to not add new quest text that informs the player there's still another option. It feels like a hardlock and pulling excalibur on your own kills you so quickly it seems like it isn't possible. One of the very many janky ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things in this game.

The only instructions you get when going this path is "reforge the gong and use it next to Excalibur". That's it. Not even the description in journal if I recall correctly. There are side quests with a lot more details on what to do ("maybe I should break the rock next to the prisoner"- out of the top of my head) and they don't lock you out from progressing in game. At the very least- it's ridiculously badly explained what you should so.

But analysing this further- design where you finish the quest and you end up in significantly worse state than if you wouldn't (locked up from Horns and some NPCs outside of Horns get hostile too, no resolution to the local plotline, got to use up resources to progress main questline) is just off-putting. I'm all for consequences but the game suggests that it's a valid choice. I wasn't even able to question the dude. He sounds like a madman- entire region is overrun by monsters, all civilians are dead (except for 5 in the village. There are 4 living, non-hostile women in the entire area! How is he planning to repopulate it?) and he... Wants to declare independence? It sounded like a joke but nope- game just rolls with it. It is badly designed (and- sadly- sore lack of information is recurring problem throughout the game).

Thanks, as a mage it was very helpful.

Honestly it ridiculous that Dál Riata smith can't fix it.
Or that civilians in the keep get immediately aggressive, despite us helping them.

It's a constant pain for "neutral" players in RPGs, when developers create paths and always expect that players chose the sides.:steamsad:
