It does have some bad things like level scaling of enemies, and weapon scaling (There are mods out now that fix this). Its quest lines are massive. you can easily sink 100 hours into it. (Id say its the best bang for buck you can get.
Its just as good as Skyrim if you played that but never played oblivion. Id say if you never played oblivion and your PC can handle it. Go for that instead (You can get it on Xbox Series X, but i would not recommend that due to PC Exclusive mods).
If i had to choose id say Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition > The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered> Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon (Just slightly behind). Skyrim only wins because it runs the best, is the most massive, and most polished out of all of these 3 games. Plus the modding community is massive.
Other than that, oblivion has better NPC AI routine and it has spellcraft. That's what this game is missing the most, the spellcraft and enchanting freedom.
The skyrim approach to magic if the one thing they shouldn't have copied.
That being said, I prefer this over Oblivion - I stopped my remastered playthrough for this. Granted that may be because I've finished OG Oblivion multiple times.
Doom and Halo are literally the same game just different studios.
Sometimes I wonder how many people in Steam discussions only ever wear crocs because they never learned how to tie their shoes, or tap on pictures in restaurant menus because they don't know how to read the words.
Many doors and buildings are just art.
no pick pocketing
many NPC's cant be talked to. Does TES games have any you cant talk to?
3rd person is garbage and the animation is bad
combat stinks.
Game is worth playing though.
Combat does not stink. Oblivion's combat is far far worse lol.
Oh you misunderstand - Oblivion is fantastic - but it's combat is a bit of an acquired taste. It's extremely clunky, to be expected considering how old the game is - and they didn't touch the combat in the remaster.
Love it though.
Combat in Tainted grail is far better though.
Avalon dark fantasy, great technical combat mechanics, bad lighting/graphics, great writing good voice actin/characters. deep rpg
Honestly this is the perfect description and rating of all three games. I have to say I was disappointed in the graphics of Tainted Grail..It pales in comparison to the other two.
