Slow Movement Speed
I'm having a problem of slow movement speed which I can't figure out. I am not in sneak mode and when I push the sprint speed key it does increase but regular movement speed seems too slow. I've watched other videos of people playing and they seem to be moving like I would expect. Does anyone know why I'm having this problem?

Movement speed depends on you athletism level and your equipment weight skills. If you're in heavy weight and you don't have your heavy armour skill at as good level, you'll be slower.

Either equip lighter armour (or upgrade your armour to reduce the weight) or bear with it until your heavy armour skill levels up enough so that it doesn't slow you down anymore.

Leveling up strength also raises your weight threshold, so with enough strength, heavier armour will go down a weight class and become medium or light armour.

Thanks for the info but I'm just starting the game and only have the armor that I get off the opening guards.

I had this issue too; if you save the game and reload - suddenly your sprint works again.

As I said in the top post, when I initiate the sprint key I do go faster but my movement speed out of sprint seems too slow. I'm at the biganing of the game and the only armor I have is what I got off the guards I incountered..

I had changed some settings then noticed my game running slow, mainly my character actions and movement speed were super slowed down. I found that if you set v-sync to be on it does this. Could be the source of your issue. Good luck.

have you tried looking at your total armor weight in the top right corner of the screen where you equip armor? There are 3 armor levels: light, medium, heavy.

If you are listed as wearing "heavy" based on your total armor weight you will be slower, where if you are wearing "medium" you are kinda neutral movement speed and "light" you move 20% faster.

There are also a lot of things you can do to improve your movement speed after you get off the tutorial island, like an altar that you can sacrifice antler fragments to in order to get a permanent movement speed buff, armor that increases movement speed out of combat, investing in armor on the perk tree, increasing stats like strength, etc.
Is there a walk key? Like caps like or something?

I had this happen several times last night, which was my first time playing.

It started happening after the game had crashed (the only crash I've experienced) and I restarted. Didn't seem to be tied to my equipment, hitting the wrong keybind, or even the save file. The only thing that would fix it was restarting the game, but it was just a temporary fix. The problem occurred four times but, after several restarts, I was able to play for about an hour and a half without encountering it again. Very frustrating, though.

There is a walk key that i think is defaulted to the C key on keyboard and mouse. I thought of that when reading op's issue, but they mentioned sprinting with normal speed but still having problems after. In the game, if walk key is hit before sprinting, it gets turned off, so op should be at full movement speed after sprinting even if they had hit the walk key beforehand. but they said they still move slow after.
