Magic is very powerful... eventually if you put enough points into Spirituality. Thing is, to do a proper Battlemage, you also will need endurance and strength leading into a multiple attribute problem later down the road. My suggestion, would be put a one handed weapon in the right hand and a leech spell in the left..
Pretty fun so far, but only in the beginning stages though.
As usual with this type of game, magic is completely broken, meaning that when skilling for caster & some fitting equip you can go full Bethesda and nuke
You need endurance no matter what.
There are ways to buff your melee outside of strength.
And there's a lot in practicality's tree.
You don't need the associated stats to get perks from what I can tell...
Also there are staves that scale with spirituality, so you can melee as a mage.
