I would still attempt it this way since it directly correlates to how Windows handles it.
I run Cyberpunk on High settings with Ray Tracing, no issues, solid FPS.
I run this game on Low settings and my performance is all over the place.
My game has never crashed though, because I recognized this game is poorly optimized and needed me to run the settings lower than what I expect I should have to.
If it was a CPU issue, you'd crash if all settings and resolutions were lower. If you do, then yeah, do what OP said. If you lower settings and stop crashing though, that literally means the crashes are from running your settings too high.
It was a question directed to you considering you are op, as to whether or not the in game setting is working for you as my game setting is to use three cores and if I go into affinity through taskman it's set at 3 cores already.
