I can confirm that this is also happening for me as well although the game updated again about 2 hours ago so I am unsure if this process happens after every update.

Is this really necessary though when Steam already has a quicker and better file verification anyway which you use only when you need it?

On my system, the file verification seems to be quick and goes to 47% then gradually goes to 84% before slowing down significantly, ending up taking 10 minutes to complete. TEN MINUTES!!! For something that should not even be required.

It's a quirk of using Unity for an openworld game. Game's not the most stable, so the devs probably wanna be extra sure everything is in place before the player starts.

It is super annoying though.

I had this happen as well and verified my game files via steam options. After that it never happened again with a new save I made.

why is this happening in every game now :( mine gets stuck at 47%.
i uninstalled stalker 2 because i couldnt wait 10+ minutes everytime i launched the game

Same problem here. The demo did file verification every time I opened it, and now the full version as well. It's not just a couple of minutes either, not for me anyway. It started at 38% and is now at 48% after 10 MINUTES. What the actual #@$%?! **shrug**

Going to try to verify within Steam next time to see if that stops it from happening. That is, of course if it ever FINISHES verifying this session. LOL!

Same here. I've been staring at this progress bar for about fifteen minutes now. If this is what it's like to start the game every single time then I'm just not going to play the game.
