There is so much more than i would be able to cover. But i guess here are some fundamental basics relevant up until the events of this game.
Humans homeland was ravaged by a plague called the Red Death that killed loads of people. So King Arthur and his knights led their remaining healthy people to sail to the islands of Avalon. At that time avalon was inhabited by the Foredwellers (four-armed giants) and the island covered in a mist, called „ the Wyrdness“. A somewhat reality bending substance. Hints to what exactly the deal with the relationship is between foredwellers, the wyrdness and humans is somewhat scattered in the lore and not really easy to puzzle together, majority of it only in the boardgame. (And havent played it all yet, so cant say too much about it).
Anyway. In order for the humans to survive, they had to fight back the foredwellers and dispell the wyrdness to make the island (or parts of it) inhabitable. During this Conquest, Merlin was the one to discover they could use the magic of ancient statues on the island to dispell the wyrdness and make it safe for humans. During the age of conquets, merlin and Arthur disappeared, while the humans started to rebuild their kingdom - rebuilding kamelot, maintaining the order of knights of the round table, etc.
About 6 centuries later (where this game is set), Foredwellers have been fought back from all inhabitable areas on (at least the western side of the island) and havent been seen for centuries. The Menhirs, that Merlin was able to use to dispell the wyrdness are starting to lose their power and slowly start failing and requiring more and more upkeep…
Again there is so much more about what happened to arthur, the knights of the round table, the red death, the wyrdness, the pale lady of the lake… much more than i could remember.
Anyway, hope this was kinda along the lines of what you wanted
That's what I said. ;)
Can you explain more? There's pretty much nothing about the Lady of the Lake, the Grail Knights, the corruption etc.
