How do I get a horse?

BUMP! I SAW A Horse BUT THE GUYS WOULDN'T TALK TO ME AND NOW the horse is gone

There are two in Cuanacht. "Daisy" is on a farm with 2 farmers. If you choose the correct dialog they'll sell her to you. Or (much easier) - there is a free horse close by the Cuanacht main entrance area - I think by the miners/the ancient tree.

Once you have one then you can open the radial menu and whistle for it to appear where you are limping 1,000 tons of equipment.

Can you have more than one horse? Kinda. I got Daisy and the nameless wild horse and then I parked them by my Stash in the city. Exited game. Reloaded save. Both horses gone. *poof* However when I whistled for the horse using the radial menu choice the nameless horse magically appeared. R.I.P. Daisy

Can you fight on horseback?

Nope. The horse is just a vehicle. The only actions available on the horse object are pet, mount, and dismount.

When you mount a horse it sheathes whatever weapon/readied spell hands. If an enemy attacks you while you're on a horse you take all the damage and the trolley/horse takes none. I don't think it's even possible for horses to die currently. Enemies all ignore the horse trolley and will run around or even push the horse trying to attack you.

You can have the horse gallop very fast by pressing whatever your Run key is. Also if you jump from a great height while mounted I don't think you or the horse take any damage.

As soon as I dismount my horse, I fall through the map. :D Any suggestions rather than waiting for a bugfix?

This happens on some terrain and I think the devs are aware of it, according to the last patch. Use the Unstuck option in the ESC menu if you fall under the map.

You can 'steal' a horse from a renegade noble under the king's bridge. It's guarded by said noble and one desperate peasant.
