On Magic
Finished a play though as a mage. I think they need to make magic damage scaling buffed. People usually think it's worse than it is but the fact is it's just more efficient to play melee. I played mage and I regret not playing a warrior of some sort. It was completely viable to spam my magic at enemies, run away, drink potions, and repeat. But that wasn't fun. All the offensive spells felt the same thing as well. Ik people say necromancer robes are great and that the 0 armor is fine bc you aren't supposed to get hit anyways as a mage but the fact is enemies are going to run up to you and wack you unless you're just perpetually running away. The best way to play mage (imo) is to wear light armor of some sort (including the necromancer robe if you want) and wear a Knight helmet so you have enough armor so you can survive when you get run up on. And the thing is even if you do get the build down and they do buff magic in some way, it's still just not as fun as melee, there just isn't any variety in magic. It's casting a little bolt, ideally toward the head. I really think it needs an overhaul, during my entire play though I was just thinking "man, I wish I played a warrior" after I realized there just wasn't any variety to the magic. The summons are also just useless, even with all the perks. There's no reason you'd want to waste magic on that unless it's a boss fight and you want them to be aggro'd on someone else while hit them in the back, did that with the final boss and made it 0 challenge unintentionally lol. I really liked the idea of magic going to be some kind of druid themed stuff but the actual spells are nothing special it's just the people who do the magic have a druid coat of paint. Was kinda disappointed in all the druid stuff, didn't have any connection with the magic other than people insisting it is, but I guess that's more story and not gameplay.
Lol I rambled quite a bit, but those are the thoughts I've had on magic. I really loved playing this game but gosh I can really tell it's meant to be mainly melee combat, at least in this stage of development. I hope magic gets an improvement, if not I don't think I'd mind too much because I found what melee combat I did do a lot of fun, and magic would be fine as a sort of secondary thing to spec into.

how you managed to find decent robes? i was mag and played mostly with sword. i found 2 strong spells that cost 80 mana andi have like 180. still cant use it, it shows that i dont have enough mana. and the melee magic weapons are so damnt weak

The necromancer robes are both in the blood lake in a secret little tomb thing as well as in the graveyard the quartermaster tasks you with clearing

Yeah they're not good. but like I said put a knight helmet on and I think you'll be able to pretty good armor while keeping it light and getting the mana regen. I didn't bother with that myself because I just found the regen negligible and would rather wear something else. I just wore the travelers outfit or whatever it's called for the 10% movement speed bc nothing else was even remotely interesting
