If there are no companions, this game should be labeled as Souls-Like.

Even in Soul's games you can summon companion, both co-op and NPCs...
You can use summon, but they have to fix it because it's unbalanced.

That's like summoning a wolf, or a elemental. I haven't seen an RPG yet that hasn't done atleast that.

But i'm talking about companions that can converse and joining you on your adventure.

When you summon a player for co-op in Dark Souls series, they can be there until the area boss is killed, then you move to next and summon them again. Many people post on DS forum looking for others to play through the whole game, aka on the "adventure", aka a "companion" in the game. Did so with my son.

I know what you mean, but your definition is rather narrow to lingering NPCs, which is a much more shallow experience than playing a game coop.

If the game does get companions I want them to be able to do what I want. For example, if I want them to stay at range they should stay at range.

To have to summon a companion over and over is tedious, and I'd much rather have a party based experience along for the journey. When I see a developer not including them because they want to go the easy route to avoid nav meshing and voice acting essentially a fast buck game. That tells me a lot about the game, it will be short lived there will be no community adding content.

It's usually a sign to move on or move backwards to games that have this, but this game isn't finished and I would like to know where the developer stands on it.

I want to add, if you are summoning an NPC just to fight they aren't considered companions, they are followers.

I am not far along enough in the game and am wondering this, are there companions that aren't summons?

If that's added, and they add the ability to sit on benches/chairs, everything will be complete lol
