How do you eat from the hotbar? I have farmed and collected carrots, but it will not let me eat them?! Playing on the steamdeck.

Carrots are not directly edible. You have to cook them first. Have you built the cooker yet?

To answer how to eat from the hotbar on the computer: Select the food item and press Enter or left-click. I am not sure how that translates to the steamdeck.
