Ice Harvester will not mine ice
He refuses to mine ice anywhere. He just goes immediately to idle if I tell him to mine ;-;

I believe that one says WIP on it, does it not? Honestly can't remember as I may be thinking of the Helium-3 miner only.

Work in Progress shouldn't mean "doesn't work at all" should it?

No, but if it did everything it was supposed to then it would be done and not a "work in progress".

So I should just assume it's not working, never mention it's not working, never come to the forum to post about it not working in the technical issues section in case, maybe, it's not a common issue or maybe someone would have better to add than "lol game is early access'

Okay so I believe I know what is probably the problem for you. Ice is only mineable is very specific locations. It is not like regolith where you can mine anywhere and hope to get lucky with the composition. If you have the radar for your rover you can scan and see where ice can be found.

Notice that very tiny little blue part at the top of the scan? That is ice an it is only in that tiny area, not spread only in smaller amounts all over. So mining at random will have almost no chance of finding anything.

This is definitely a tech tree layout issue then. The rover radar should be before or concurrent the actual rover, otherwise it's basically impossible to use the ice rover until two more tiers of the tech tree below it.

Sort of. With more exploring, it became apparent that their locations are not random. The ice will only be in craters, which makes sense if only areas more shielded from the sun can have ice. So I guess you could look for dark looking spots on the map and try those.

I mean, that's the first thing I did with it. It mined ice. Then it stopped after a while. I assumed it ran out of wherever it was mining. So I went it to more dark craters and it never did it again. So I've just missed clicking on the right spots. Then I tried driving it around randomly. Which of course still did nothing.

This needs to be clearer.
