Tutorial does not assist enough.
It doesnt get into a majority of mechanics at play. The expeditions, with the use of drones for example. Components are a big obstacle, and producing them early is key, but no word on that from the tutorial. Getting titanium up and running is necessary for components, and then the component factory requires titanium plates, which may require a rolling mill. This game has a huge tangle of unmentioned requirements. I have played the tutorial several times just trying to get through and running out of time to get the crew from the station.

Needless to say, I recommend NOT saving the crew, when you first learning.

Yeah, it did mention (with a tooltip, sadly) that crew rescue is considered hard (and work in progress?).
As for the production chains, there is more for it later with the story mode, but honestly it isn't difficult if you played this type of a game.

I am getting along with the game so far, most mechanics are not new and with a bit of reading one can figure out how things work. But I understand that it might be a problem when the tutorial is not deep enough, especially for people with less experience with this genre.

For the expeditions, on the screen where you plan your expedition, it says that you need an expedition center.

I am sure there will soon be plenty of guides helping beginners. Maybe check out the games discord?

Hope you will get a grip on it soon and will enjoy the game.

The tutorial explains the basics and is sufficient for the game. When checking what is needed for construction and plan accordingly I get whats needed.

If you played this kind of game before its quite enough. If you never played such games before its a steep learning curve.

Anyone know why my miner on a titanium vein is only mining regolith?

You then process that regolith into other things with another machine. In that machine, there's a "single" version that you pick which one to keep, or a "multi" version that will separate all of them. You probably haven't researched the "multi" version yet, so use the single until you get there.

You can salvage a lot of components. Salvage is the t3 fundamental tech, the middle line, requiring auto repair and a mining upgrade.

Once you have the truck up, there are a couple expeditions, with resources, that don't require the expedition center. One provides 25 components.

Getting power going, and the ore finding earlish is important. You need titanium and aluminum to finish building the habitation center and make it habitable. Having two iron mines and two cement mixers going is important for building.

Sure, if you know how to play then you don't need the tutorial .. DUH. If you don't know how to play, they need a MUCH better tutorial. I have played plenty of these games.

I need to build Titanium Plates .. what do I need to research? It is Rolling Mill. How hard is it to put that in the tutorial for the first contract?
