Cargo Docks
Has this been improved, or is it still a nightmare to understand and configure?

Never could make mine do what was claimed - sending a specific truck between a specific dock and specific MDR. They end up going to whichever dock they wanna, no matter how I tweak according to 'directions' or 'videos'.

Had to stop playing, as the frustration level exceeded enjoyment levels.

Cargo docks are a work in process. The trucks go to which ever dock is empty. Or has the best coffee.
They will however go to the assigned MDR.

Sorry this ruined your game so badly you can no longer play.

Seems like the best solution is to load decaf in the other cargo dock to get them to avoid it. :D

Currently, I have a single Cargo Dock and a Single MDR operating near my Base. The MDR is operating in Raw Earth Materials rich area, so my single Cargo Truck assigned to the MDR brings back Regolith and REM. I then send it on Belts to the Cargo Elevator where it gets split underground to direct the REM where it needs to go and the Regolith to a Multi-Regolith Refinery. I have yet to find a way to configure the CE to "reject" any specific resource, so I take care of it via Belts and Splitters (it DID take me a little while to figure out how to configure Splitters).
Yes, initially I was able to utilize multiple MDR's for various ore types.

The problem is - you can easily overwhelm your processing capability, and then suddenly you have ONE critical ore that you're drowning in, but 2 others that are empty. After the update for multiple Docks, and the claim you could assign a truck to a specific dock, I thought this issue would be resolved for me. I could have one truck for Silicon, one for Titanium, etc - and storage bins to buffer those so that the processing for each critical ore didn't fail.

With the nightmarish requirements of the Laser quest, you can ill afford a breakdown in your processing. I'm sure there are those who can somehow make it all work - but that's not always going to be the case of the more casual player who wants to just relax, design a fun-yet-effective production train, and watch it churn.
