Can we the cargo trucks and deliveries go automatically to the expedition center and launch pads to drop of cargo.

Cargo Trucks and be placed in Automatic or Manual Mode for unloading, once a Cargo Dock is built. In Automatic Mode, they go to the Cargo Dock and deliver whatever they were carrying. In Manual Mode, you'll get a prompt in the upper left that says a Cargo Truck has arrived. Similar to a Rocket arriving with parts ordered from Earth, you can designate where you want the Cargo Truck to drop is cargo. Unlike a Rocket it'll just leave a small pile of Resources which Drones will them access. Drones can grab them when they need them, or you can up the priority on the small pile to have them taken to whatever Storage they're allowed to directly deliver to that accepts that Resource.

Cargo Docks can have Belts coming out of them, and configured to send the resource(s) wherever you want it to go. In my Save with the Cargo Dock (CD), I also had a Cargo Elevator (CE). I configured my Belts to take the Cargo Dock resources to the CE and bring the resources underground. Then, underground, they'd leave the CE on Belts and I'd split off the non-Regolith Resources (mostly Rate Earth Elements), and send the Regolith to a Multi-Regolith Refinery and my REE to a Rare Earth Smelter... I kept Expeditions to Manual, as their loads were comparatively small and my Cargo Truck assigned to the MDR to Automatic, as they had large loads of mostly Regolith, which I could more easily and efficiently Belt to a MRR...

Cargo trucks get sent out by the Expedition Center, and off load into the Cargo Dock. Launch pads are for loading cargo. cargo transports land where you tell them, and your drones offload them.

Simple really.

Cheers
Right, so I need a cargo dock, however having to see that delivery icon is just something else you have to look for, having deliveries go to the launch pads automates it.

Why do you need a cargo dock? The cargo dock is more used for transporting regolith + accepts automatically returning trucks from the expedition. If you picked up the cargo from the expedition, you do not need a cargo dock. Upon returning to the base, if you have not built a cargo dock, you will be asked where to drive the truck and unload the cargo.
So it will automatically unload its cargo.

It will ask you where to unload when the cargo truck returns to your base.

If there is no dock, then in any place where he points, for example, when buying cargo. The only question is: how long will it take to remove the load manually or automatically?

Yes, if they have a cargo dock (which op didn't when posting) it will automatically unload the items at the dock (unless its been disabled to do this in the truck menu) otherwise you tell it where to drop the items when the truck returns.

How long it takes will depend on how many drones you have I guess. Unless they set up a conveyor to move the items automatically to the flight control or expedition centre.

I normally drop all my stuff in the cargo dock and let the drones deal with it. Only problem with that is when I have the MDR and it's full off regolith the drones prioritise moving regolith so I need to make sure that they don't do this by disabling regolith from being recieved by any bulk storages.

Thank you, I recently bought the game, and getting to grips with its features.

Beware however, when cargo trucks are returning with materials from MDRs they sometimes generate a flag asking where you want the materials even though they are automatically taking them to the cargo dock. Must be a bug but just take second and don't automatically click on it and divert the cargo truck or you will break the automatic behaviour and it won't go back to the MDR on it's own.

as with all buildings, when you put on a outward bound belt, the building will automatically stop allowing drones to pickup materials from it. You will need to go back into the building settings to turn this back on.
