The MDR just brings in more slag, crazy amounts of it. The ratio of slag to silicon from the MDR isn't useful enough to offset anything. The only options you really have are to balance silicon production to leave enough silicon for burning slag into smart brick, spam silo's, or spam food production or some mix of those three strategies.
In real world industrial operations they simply dump the slag on the ground. They do for gold mining anyways. There needs to be more options, or some better mass storage options for slag that we can put out of the way and deal with later. That's what I'd do in reality. Dump it all somewhere on the fringe of the moon base and deal with it later.
Since the Regolith goes to a MRR, the various Ore Powders produced can be sent to the proper Smelters. I've started buffering my MRR's and Smelters with Bulk Storage buildings to allow me to combine those resources effectively. They use no power and only take up a small amount of space. I'm not really using it for storage, but more as an input buffer to prevent the Conveyors from backing up to the surface...
I got more slag sitting around in 50k slag buckets than I'll ever be able to use. Think i'm sitting on like 300k slag atm, with 12 machines cranking out bricks, and 16 large organic farms going full steam. I think the scale of my factory might be different than yalls.
Even at 20% slag production from MDR's I still can't burn it off fast enough. Gonna have to set up a silicon MDR and single regolith array along with god know how many brick factories to keep up with all of the slag. Then there's the problem of getting rid of all the product, brick and food/meds take so much space in cargo ships. I need a 50k ton cargo ship so I don't have to spam 9k ton ships trying to offload all the brick and food/meds and organics. I can't get rid of it fast enough.
When you scale the factory in the late game, there's just too much of it. The transports aren't designed to handle the volume of product or slag that gets generated. So, we either need larger transports, some kind of automated transport/contract system for automatically selling off excess amounts without having to set up contracts and loading the transports manually, or we simply need a larger storage unit for the slag. Like, 1 million slag at least. I've got almost 1 million regolith waiting to be processed, but can't because my whole base is jammed up with slag, organics and concrete.
Automated contract system for selling off excess product would be best, imo. But, MASSIVELY larger storages would do as well. Storages that hold millions, not thousands..

I Try my best to keep on making bricks, food ect but I'll typically end a game with a million + slag even after all of that. And I have to keep one mining rig constantly getting silicon to pull that off.
Really want to be able to tweak the ratios. Or maybe make an alt recipe where you have an "iron" brick. Thin iron shell filled with slag.
Could you shed some light on the design intention of having a slag altogether? Was it just to add more friction to the game?
Large hydroponic farms have inputs and outputs for belts.
