Has the slag problem been solved with the latest patches?
I was following the game and understood that not having enough uses for it was one of the most annoying things to deal with. How does it look now?

There has never been a "real" slag problem, just peoples problems dealing with slag. If you use the smart concrete module and direct slag to it you can keep slag amounts to a minimum, leaving just enough to create food.

This assumes you have access to a steady supply of silicon. Between producing parts and filling the spammy urgent requests, it's difficult. So far I've opted to not use humans at all, or I would just scale the slag into infinite food production. That just adds another layer of frantic management trying to keep the humans happy, alive and paid, which I really don't want to deal with.

The MDR just brings in more slag, crazy amounts of it. The ratio of slag to silicon from the MDR isn't useful enough to offset anything. The only options you really have are to balance silicon production to leave enough silicon for burning slag into smart brick, spam silo's, or spam food production or some mix of those three strategies.

In real world industrial operations they simply dump the slag on the ground. They do for gold mining anyways. There needs to be more options, or some better mass storage options for slag that we can put out of the way and deal with later. That's what I'd do in reality. Dump it all somewhere on the fringe of the moon base and deal with it later.

The MDR is fine for me -- slag percentage when you have all upgrades is generally much lower than the mines underground, usually a bit under 20%

Also, if you use the Rover to scan an area, once you've researched the Tech, you place the MDR on an area that has specific resources on it. This reduces the Slag production, versus just randomly placing it. I found a location in the immediate vicinity (but outside of) my base that had a lot of Rare Earth Materials. I relocated my MDR to that location. It increased my supply of REM and decreased the MDR's production of Raw Regolith. I *DO* use the Dock and Conveyors to move ALL the materials to the Cargo Elevator I built. Once it goes underground, I use Conveyors to split off the REM from the Regolith. I send the Regolith to a Multi-Regolith Refinery and the REM to a Rare Earth Refinery. This has increased my production of Rare Earth Metals, most of which are currently used to sell to Earth for extra funds.

Since the Regolith goes to a MRR, the various Ore Powders produced can be sent to the proper Smelters. I've started buffering my MRR's and Smelters with Bulk Storage buildings to allow me to combine those resources effectively. They use no power and only take up a small amount of space. I'm not really using it for storage, but more as an input buffer to prevent the Conveyors from backing up to the surface...
The mobile miner really needs an alert for when the ratio has shifted to much - after enough time it keeps going harvesting regolith that’s 100% slag

I never have enough slag to keep up with my concrete and organic material production.

Idk what yall are doin.
I got more slag sitting around in 50k slag buckets than I'll ever be able to use. Think i'm sitting on like 300k slag atm, with 12 machines cranking out bricks, and 16 large organic farms going full steam. I think the scale of my factory might be different than yalls.

Even at 20% slag production from MDR's I still can't burn it off fast enough. Gonna have to set up a silicon MDR and single regolith array along with god know how many brick factories to keep up with all of the slag. Then there's the problem of getting rid of all the product, brick and food/meds take so much space in cargo ships. I need a 50k ton cargo ship so I don't have to spam 9k ton ships trying to offload all the brick and food/meds and organics. I can't get rid of it fast enough.

I sell food/meds to the peeps on the moon, they pay really good and can't get enough.
Food has a bad price per kilo ratio for selling or sending to earth but do jump on any that’s to somewhere else on the moon those are well worth it as the cargo vehicle can take loads for free
Hello! We know about the slag problem. Right now it can be used to produce organics, smart concrete and you can complete some contracts with slag. We also have some ideas for slag usage and will add them in future updates.

When you scale the factory in the late game, there's just too much of it. The transports aren't designed to handle the volume of product or slag that gets generated. So, we either need larger transports, some kind of automated transport/contract system for automatically selling off excess amounts without having to set up contracts and loading the transports manually, or we simply need a larger storage unit for the slag. Like, 1 million slag at least. I've got almost 1 million regolith waiting to be processed, but can't because my whole base is jammed up with slag, organics and concrete.

Automated contract system for selling off excess product would be best, imo. But, MASSIVELY larger storages would do as well. Storages that hold millions, not thousands..

I have like 50 farms myself, But since we can't pipe in the slag I've run into drone issues on not keeping up late game. Anyway we can get the farms of all types to take in slag via belt?

I Try my best to keep on making bricks, food ect but I'll typically end a game with a million + slag even after all of that. And I have to keep one mining rig constantly getting silicon to pull that off.

Really want to be able to tweak the ratios. Or maybe make an alt recipe where you have an "iron" brick. Thin iron shell filled with slag.

Hi, thanks for your reply :)
Could you shed some light on the design intention of having a slag altogether? Was it just to add more friction to the game?

Large hydroponic farms have inputs and outputs for belts.

Use underground conveyors to get the slag inside.
