What triggers the lazer mission to start?

Anyone know what triggers the laser misson to start?

It just happens a short time after completing the hope-2 rescue and the room quests. Technically you could hold off on building the fundamental lab and you could still save and use the colonists just fine, allowing you infinite time before the laser mission, but unless you chose the contracts route, you won't ever get access to that part of the market. Would be a hard play with no contracts, and no green science other than the private lab once in a while.

Are u sure. I find many contract with green tech.

I can confirm this, if you do not pick up the crew in the FIRST escape pod. The quest will not progress. and you -can- leave them there for several days of irl time at the least.
Im using it as a hard save point atm to see if any hidden timers are present.

Then you took the contracts route (as I said, "unless you took the contracts route"). If you took the Crust route to rescue people the you won't get access to contracts until after you finish the room quest. So if you use not finishing that as a way to delay the laser quest, then you won't get green science contracts.

Can say safely that the laser quest doesn't trigger until after the room quests (medical and fundamental science) are completed.

the only start condition is to do the cargo terminal event. there is no required building or any other check.

There are two story line variants to choose from. Crust vs. Ledger. If you side with Crust, you have to rescue the crew from escape pods and complete a full living quarters for them. If you side with Ledger, then you find a cargo terminal or whatever and send them that way. Different paths have different events.
