Yes, many people have already done it, and we will be adding achievements soon to see how many people have been able to do it.
You can try the sandbox mode to play without restrictions.
i already made a feedback post about this mission. i do not think it is possible to do it right now without planning for it from the start of the game - ie: knowing precisely what to do and planning for it with the power of hindsight.
generally not a favorite approach among most players.
For context of the thread, I'm currently on stage 2 of the laser with about 450 days left, I'm not expecting to finish it on my first run through, but I have learned many things which will help for another run through. Unfortunately there is a number of bugs (tech unlocked but able to build buildings, vehicles stuck, buildings not processing things properly) which are severely attempting to stop me achieving much.
Yes it is possible.
You need to be aware of certain missions though, that START the chain of events as well as a general timer.
One i have CONFIRMED is a quest starter and you can sit for REAL TIME DAYS going slow as a turtle if thats what you want.
That being: Research; Living quarters.
As long as you do not, research living quarters. The timer and next set of events will not be put in motion. Meaning you can take your time, set up infrastructure and your base as slow as you want.
If anyone else has other quest starters after this point, PLEASE SHARE.
Im making hard saves after like two three quests with the quest names to figure out which ones are 'safe' saves to go back to if i screw up.
Also, a note to the devs saying people have done it. Up to a short time ago, there was an exploit in the game to basically get extremely rich extremely quick so it is possible that some of those who completed that quest, did so with help from the extra money.
I would also be curious to l know how many of those who completed it, did so on hard mode versus easy mode. I bet it would be much less daunting a task if you had had access to contracts and the money making capabilities of that right from the start.
I've actively been doing contracts as much as I conceivably could, my primary limitation being that I have to have 8 of my 16 robots repairing at all times so I can't load cargo fast enough. I've used every credit earned to buy materials to complete this quest chain objectives.
Other than cheats, I maybe could have done some improvements here and there, but I was quite efficient. And leagues off from completing. "some people have done it." Doesn't matter if miracles happen, some people have been made a saint for the same reason. You and me though? Yeah, we're gonna fail. If this is the only difference between sandbox and campaign though, it's a useless feature but kudos for developers adding impossible achievements for the real go getters out there.
If you just zip through all the requested story line objectives and explore the '?', you'll trigger it waaaay too soon and not have enough resource capacity.
I would say getting people and putting the machines needed on priority so they go in them does help though. I did struggle with the frames the first time I did it.
Has this changed from the MDR trigger?
