AWD Pacific P16 in upcoming DLC´s or updates?
Personally, I like to use the Pacific P16 from time to time. The problem is that for the challenging maps in the game, the AWD is simply missing. I just wanted to ask what you think about this and what your opinion is on the subject. Should there be a AWD-upgrade for the Pacific P16 in the next DLC? :steamthumbsup::steamthumbsdown:

No because it does not really need it, it is one of the best vehicles in all the game to plow through deep mud and deep snow. Because it has the best tires in all the game.

It does not like rocks on the road that act as wheel blocks because the front wheels cannot claw themselves over them. This is simply the downside of Rear Wheel drive vehicles, when there are many rocks on the road you must use another truck.

The only vehicle that DOES need some adjusting is the CAT 770 G. It suffers from the same rock= wheel block issue as the P16 but IRL life it is used in open mines with a lot of rocks on the roads. So it obviously would not be stopped by them and should be able to deal with them. Not by AWD as the real one has none either ( but it does have traction control ) but by crushing the rocks to dust when it immense weight pulverizes them.

In game ( and i guess IRL too ) the vehicle does not have any suspension travel ( likely the only suspension being it's giant tires ) so the rock cannot push the wheel in the wheel well. In game it makes the insane heavy vehicle bounce and dance on that pebble which looks ridiculous !

So if anything extreme heavy trucks should be made to pulverize rocks, push them into the ground or the tires be a lot softer to absorb rolling over a not too large rock.

The BM, the Navistar, the WS 47X NF1430 are strange trucks however....why have AWD that IRL life is expensive to buy and operate but not diff lock that is far more common, even on "highway" trucks that sometimes drive on compacted dirt roads or construction sites. These probably should get diff lock.

I agree with you on the lack of front axle drive being the biggest drawback of the truck.

If you care to dabble in mods, there are a few that allow you to run a stock P16 with an AWD upgrade. The only problem with these is the model of the front diff is "smooshed" into the extant beam axle and has no model of the knuckle joints. If you can look past that, you get what you're asking for. If you opt for the same tires, engine and gearbox options as your vanilla P16 its a tasteful tweak without being OP.

I am a huge fan of the P112PF and it suffers from the same lack of AWD. Found a mod that gives it AWD and I'm running the vanilla engines and gearboxes in it. New second favorite truck.

Mr busses or MAXX Both have a AWD varient. Both rock the Chit outta hard maps.

Before you say mods take challenge away.
This game has huge logistic challenges and maps make even OP trucks.. Not OP
Only over the top thing modders do is add Autonomous winches.
But to be fair.
A rl winch works if your truck is upside down under water or on fire. As long as the controller is un harmed and the battery is good on the truck a winch should work unless its a PTO.
and since we can winch from trailer points. Its not a PTO.

^Mods are also a great way to spice up a game that LETS FACE IT BOYS, for the most part is staring at trucks moving very slowly through mud. You want something worth looking at.

A few mods that allow for more paint schemes, useful attachments, wider selection of bumpers or even a few new trucks can really spice up the game without violating its spirit.

I'm just sad nobody's done a Dodge M37 yet.

Should there be one? What for though?

The only thing it won't do is ice slopes cause it's slow enough that it doesn't usually build up enough momentum for those.

I'd rather have a chained tire option for it than AWD that it doesn't need.

And then only the uphill ice roads that have no grass/snow/dirt strip next to the road you can drive on with one side of the vehicle's wheels as the diff lock will enable you to drive up there anyway, without ice chains ( and of course you know this :-)

Only ( intentional positioned ) guard rails can spoil that, and usually that means it is an optional route you could avoid.

I admit i have used ice chains extensively in Alaska to be able to drive faster and safer on the asphalt ice roads, but never used them much in any other map. I vividly remember struggling on the uphill ice road in Imandra until i finally came to the conclusion you should not be on that road* ( with multiple traps that make you crash, flip or otherwise fail ) at all, and thus do not need ice chains.

* Once you found where to cross the river and what ice will support you, everything is so much easier :-))

I always play in hard mode.

Coming to P16, it doesn't need AWD. It suffers in the game because of bad game design. for some strange reason they decided to put rocks and magic tree roots that catch the wheels of trucks like underground monsters.

In reality, utility offroad trucks don't need AWD. It is only used in military vehicles which sometimes have to go fully offroad. But then it comes with the price of lower payload weight.

Also looking on YouTube with P16 it is enormous monster truck that definitely can take more than standard long logs. In game it should be able to take double long logs.

it's a shame, but after MudRunner they went to more arcade game, but less realistic.

this is the truck from the base game, im sure if they ever planned to add awd they would added it in on of first year updates

I've used the side slope method in other places, but I don't think I was mindful of it at the spots where I couldn't get the P16 to climb frozen highways in Alaska. It's good that you mentioned this, I'm going to keep a closer eye on them.
