Mastadon and Atom
I've not bought any dlc trucks but I'm interested in the Mastadon and the Atom. Can anyone ttell me if they are free in-game or do I have to purchase them again with the game's currency?

You can get a Zikz 605R with the vanilla game that's pretty close to the 612H (Mastodon). There's plenty of other russian heavies that fill the same role, for that matter.

I can't think of Atom equivalents off the top of my head, but maybe I just don't remember that bit clearly right now, I tend not to use that sort of truck.

Thanks for that.
If you are playing hard mode, you will have to buy them in-game.....Otherwise, they show up in your stored trucks tab. New game+ may have a setting where you have to buy them, but I'm not exactly sure.

This is a new player question, why answering with the fact that you get the equivalent of the Mastodon in the hardest region of all 14?
No, there is no need to buy the trucks again. As soon as you pay for the DLC, you have the trucks in your garage. If you don´t like their performance, you can sell them for a lot of in-game money.

Better invest your money in map DLCs instead of these OP vehicles. Your destroying the learning curve of the early regions and the fun to get maps done with somewhat weaker vehicles. the 605R is great and not that hard to get in Amur. You'll get a good set of soviet/russian trucks in Taymyr which are often the workhorses for most maps (overpowered as all russian/soviet trucks).
mastadon was great truck till its constant shifting every 1 mph upshift on hill n then oops nutral roll back down a bit back to 1st sounds like hogg snorting constantly but powerfule truck if u can get the pos to keep a gear and mute the engine lol

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I must point out that I've played over 1600 hours in this game and have all of the in-game trucks and all of the seasons so far. As you can see I'm not a new player I just haven't bought any dlc trucks outside the season passes - most of them don't get good enough reviews and don't seem any better than the trucks already in the game. I just thought the Mastodon and Atom looked interesting though and hence I just wondered if they had to be paid for in game but this has been answered for me. Thanks again everyone
Atom is my favorite cargo stacker truck. Can easily carry 6 to 9 slots of cargo on that 3-slot bed (if not more) and secure it with your tail-mounted crane, add a trailer and you got another 4-slots of cargo. It's a bit slow but that only works in its favor when cargo stacking. It is also very capable in rough terrain and narrow enough to push through dense forests when needed.

Thanks for that info - it looks like the Mastodon and the Atom could be really useful additions to the fleet. Thanks

That is a misconception. Every DLC truck that not comes with a DLC map pack offers something needed, but not in any ridiculous OP way.

Some of the benefits of the vehicle DLC are only felt in HARD mode, where fuel consumption will become a mill stone around the neck. Modern trucks are of course much more fuel efficient and more powerful to boot.

The Mastodon is more a popular demand vehicle. It is vary capable going through mud and snow but it's large size is cumbersome in many environments. And that size does not translate into more cargo slots it can carry or tow. And as all veteran players know the heavier the vehicle, the poorer it climbs. For this reason i don't use it much.

The Atom is a whole other story. Whenever i feel i don't want to use trailers the cargo slot capacity comes without rolling over all too easily ( Twinsteer ) or having a too small fuel tank Paystar 5600 and it can tow the 4 slot trailer so transport 7 slots without making use of the games' flaws not registering cargo when not fastened. ( i consider that a game breaking cheat ) This one i use regularly.

I was only going by the reviews that are constantly appearing stating that the non-map paid dlc trucks are not really worth investing in as they don't offer anything of significant value over the vanilla trucks. I haven't bought any of the paid dlc trucks for that reason so I wasn't making a judgement of them as I have no experience of them. I do like the look of the Mastodon and the Atom and feel that they could offer something of value.

The Mastodon is very similar to the Zikz 605R but it can use a lot more frame addons. Very capable truck BUT...
... in my opinion makes the game boring, especially the easier seasons like the last few we got! It can ruin the fun if you don't have to care about mud or uneven ground.

The Atom is also a very good truck, it has a good choice of addons and is in my opinion a lot better balanced.
The tires are more like other trucks you have in the base game, you still have to be careful where you drive as the smaller tires and the Atoms suspension can get you stuck on bigger rocks or in deep mud, but I think that's the fun of Snowrunner.
It's balanced.
Bonus point for me would be I really like how the Atom looks!

This didn't address anything he asked in his question. Just a random statement while avoiding what he asked.

- To actually answer the question: You get a free copy in your garage, as long as you're not in hard mode.

Why must you point this out? Attempted flex?

The mastadon't. is too OP and overall not a great choice for a truck. The Atom is an amazing truck, and with the capability of taking 7 slots of cargo, it's much easier to use than the 8 slot trailer. It's 100% a better choice than the mastadon't.
