Snowrunner has annoying stutters at 120fps :( incl. video

Hi guys,

have some stuttering issue while playing with 120-150fps. Have tweaked arround with graphic-settings, have newest drivers running, windows game mode is deactivaed.



Geforce 3070

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D

32gb ddr4

It appears neary every 2-5 minutes and is quite annoying...

Install on ssd or atleast raid 0 hdd's is necessary i think, but let me know if this works below.

4k resolution, so ur gpu has something to do.
Use medium settings, high texture, (fog, light rays and mirrors off).
Low effects so u don't have rain effects, causes me alot of fps drops if on.

I use v-sync and 60 fps limit, testing it myself now. I think it has some good results.

Also use overlay to see the fps before turning on caps, maybe cap it higher.

Above didn't really help, maybe even light rays on is better, and 1080p.
Bit lost on why the game starts to stutter while driving after a while.
Only restart helps , then its butter smooth again.

I remember changing keyboard helped for some codemaster games like dirt and grid, cause some keyboards have a polling rate to high (like 1000 mhz) and causes the game to become unresponsive. (Logitech G110 and some Microsoft KB).

Don't want to try some guide that tries to run the game in vulkan either, so just restarting i guess for now.

How much VRAM is the game using?
With an 8GB card like the 3070 I'd try to reduce texture quality by one step to see if that changes anything

Found a Fix

I recently had the same problem. Every 2 minutes (give or take a few seconds) my game would freeze for approx 1 second then play for about 2 seconds and freeze again for about 1 second. This would happen every 2 minutes or so.

After trying everything I could think of to solve the problem, nothing worked.
After searching the net and trying every possible solution out there I Finally found a fix for the Stuttering.

Now I only get an occasional pause when Auto-Saving. But even then, it is not that noticeable and only happens once in awhile.

It does require you to download a Zipped .exe file which is perfectly safe. You can find the link in the post above or you can go there direct by following this link:

There are 2 zip files to choose from:
SnowRunnerStutterPatcher.zip
SnowRunnerStutterRemover.zip

The Patcher zip fixes it permanently, until the next update or if you verify integrity of local files. At which time it will have to be Patched again.
The Remover zip is a Temporary fix which has to be done every time you restart the game.

I used the SnowRunnerStutterPatcher.zip (Permanent Patch). I used it for both Epic and Steam versions of the game and it solved the problem. No more stutters.

Hope this helps anyone else that may be experiencing annoying stutters in SnowRunner.

I have the same issue. I am not sure what is causing it. It's super annoying, especially when you are trying to get through the mud and you have to hit the throttle and steering again after each stutter. I have a 5950x and 3080TI. Tried settings maxed out all the way to PS1 graphics. A system I built for a friend running a 3700x and a 2070 super has absolutely zero problems. I think its got to be a compatibility thing. I am however still trying things.

Notice that the AWD and Diff Lock indicators flash on at the same time as the stutters? (looking at the 'Tube provided). Maybe some hardware problem at the OPs end?

After a couple new release updates ago, the same stuttering started happening for me.
I tried every thing I could think of and all the suggestions I found here on Steam, Reddit, and the Official Snowrunner Forums. Nothing worked to get rid of the stutter.

The only fix I found that actually worked is the 3rd party fix I posted above.
The developer of the 3rd party program describes in their post the reason for the stutter.

I was a bit reluctant to try a 3rd party program, but since I do use top of the line security measures I decided to give it a try.

For me, I was not getting the "Throttle Cut off" as described in the post. I was just getting the stutter. My game would freeze for a split second and then a couple seconds later, freeze again. This would happen about every 2 minutes or so, on both Steam and Epic versions of the game.
The patch fixed the stutter for both Epic and Steam.

I was having the same issue, random stutters at 80 fps. I just disconnected the printer usb cable and solved the problem. thx

I experience stutters in random clusters. Sometimes as weather changes or day/night cycles. It's rare but very noticable when it happens will dip from ~144hz (cap) to like 60hz and back.

i7 13700kf / RTX 4070super / gen4 980 pro / 32GB DDR5 6000 CL32

The more annoying / interesting problem is driving down a TOTALLY FLAT stretch of paved road on Michigan or Alaska with 0 road debris and your suspension just suddenly detonating with 30 - 60- 90- or over 100 pts of dmg for DARING to drive above 15mph

had stutters too, activating vsync ingame fully resolved the stutter problem in my case, seems like the game doesnt know how to handle the max fps limiter from nvidia drivers
