But to answer your question, the hook for trailers is sometimes simply too far in or high up to attach a trailer when a crane+bed combo is equipped because of the beds overhang.
Take a gander at the Voron lineup for example. They all have a very similar frame but on the Voron D the hook is mounted lower than on the Grad and AE variants, which makes it the only one that can attach a trailer when using the crane+bed combo.
