I've a ŠKODA 706R 6 cylinders with 5+R transmission - it's the real deal
Thank you, @mendel.
I may give it another try at some point, see if I can get it working "enough". I had seen that tweet and bought the game on Epic, but found most of the G27 features did not work, and the shifter was completely unrecognized (and is not on a separate USB).
I did see there is a "mod" for G27 somewhere, but I was running out of "return the game time window" and didn't get to try it out. With no point in playing this game w/o a wheel & pedals, I gave up and returned it. Maybe that means I get to have the Steam version (which I wanted anyway), in the end. :)
Here's hopin'!
Some wheels just don´t have pre-defined bindings that doesnt mean they don´t work just set them up and you should be good to go.
I did play snowrunners briefly around the start of the year before refunding it due to not being overly impressed with the wheel support for my G290.
My impression of snowrunners at the time was that the force feed back was significantly inferior to mudrunners not to mention the lack of proper manual support and inability to disable the truck from going into reverse when on the brake pedal. the game also did not support my thrustmaster shifter TH8A to work together with my G290.
I was hoping further wheel support would be implemented eventually but I don't think that will come to pass.
I do plan to pick this game up when it comes to steam but I will be using a controller as that is what the game seems to be entirely geared towards.
In Snowrunner, different trucks may show different sensitivity, too. And the FFB settings have a bunch of parameters you can set, like tilt gain, friction gain, spring gain, and collision gain.
SnowRunner has 6 manual gears (reverse, neutral, low-, low, low+, high) in addition to auto (not all gearboxes have all of these), and the brake pedal works (= does not reverse) in all of them except auto. (it would be nice if brake-reverse could be turned off for auto.) All of the gears can be assigned to keyboard keys or buttons, I'm using the digipad on my wheel for 4 of these.
I use my controller only to operate the crane.
Those aren't manual gears those are auto range selectors. You don't have control over the specific gears just a broad range of gears. Manual gears would be your traditional 1 to 6 H pattern or with real trucks your 1 to 4 with range and splitter function to create 16 gears.
And yes if I'm not in auto I won't go into reverse by hitting the brake pedal but i'm also not using high range unless i'm travelling on a mostly straight road and I'm not using low unless I'm stuck in the mud or going up a steep hill which leaves me using auto when I'm not doing either of those things.
If you're only using HIGH on a straight road, you are playing Snowrunner wrong. On the offroad gearbox, you should be using HIGH to go faster than LOW+ in any terrain that allows it, because it will prevent your truck downshifting yet still allow a higher speed. I've not used HIGH on the Highway gearbox (much), but some people swear by it also for use in terrain (but in my experience you're less likely to be able to upshift to it from LOW+).
Real trucks also go up to highway speeds. Snowrunner trucks barely make 30 mph even under favorable conditions, less so offroad; going fast is not what this game is about.
On a straight level road, I'm using AUTO because that's the fastest gear, and it won't downshift on me then. On almost any other terrain, I use the appropriate manual gear.
Hi, VG. :) It should, yah. As I recall, though, it wasn't recognizing the button pushes when attempting to bind them, though. Just ignored them completely. :( Maybe this has changed since last October/November timeframe, and actually binds now? That would work for me, if so!
Read my comment again I never said I would only use high on straight roads I said mostly straight as I would not use high in a place where there was continuous 90 degree turns for example as i could not maintain the speed.
Also I don't like words being put in my mouth I never said this game was about being fast, my critique was sololy about the gearbox mechanic not whether the point of the game was being fast or not.
The gearbox mechanic is arcadey and is no where close to real manual change my mind.
I maintain that HIGH should not be limited to be used "on a road", but also offroad in suitable terrain.
Very obviously the gearbox is arcadey, that wasn't the point. The point was that 6 of the 7 possible gears are manual.
The point I was making was specifically that I won't be using high when on winding roads because I won't be able maintain the speed never mentioned high being used off road.
I don't appreciate getting straw manned Mr straw man.
and how do you get that you can manually control 6 gears specifically with only 3 manual gearing options high, low, and low+ explain that one.
