How to get started?
I have tired starting this game on two separate occasions, both times I could not make progress. As soon as I do the first mission in Alaska, it feels like every other mission or path clearing objective is impossible.
I only have one truck capable of moving resources to these objectives, but its not fitted for off road travel, so it gets stuck as soon as it touches mud. And all the paths to the factories or lumber mill are blocked by muddy roads.
Do I really have to drive around randomly in the scout truck until I find something that can carry resources AND go offroad? It just seems so out of the way, and the game does not tell you anything.

You should have 2 trucks that can haul cargo by the time you have finished the tutorial unless you somehow missed the truck found at the garage. And that truck found at the garage has an AWD upgrade sitting in front of it, making it the superior truck.

For many of the tasks there are trailers parked around the maps that already have cargo on them that can be used to save yourself from going to a facility that is hard to reach.

Do Michigan first. Alaska is a pretty big jump in difficulty for new players. I don't even know why you are trying to work in Alaska when Michigan is the beginner region?

Black River, the first Michigan map, is very good for new players (as expected from the first map of the first region), go there, it will be way easier to learn how to play

The game forces you to go to Alaska as a part of the tutorial, but I did go back to Michigan. The issue I am having is that the places I pick up materials are all surrounded by muddy paths that my only truck capable of moving resources cant make it through.
Unless there is a specific path that I need to find that I can avoid mud in the beginning, I am pretty confused on what I am supposed to be doing. The game kinda throws a bunch of jobs and blocked paths to fix all at once.

You will not be able to avoid mud, especially until you complete the missions that unblock asphalt roads, but anyways you have to learn how to go through mud as most maps have very few asphalt roads.

Are you using the winch? As long as there are trees along a trail you should be able to go pretty much anywhere on the map even with the worst tires and no AWD.

Follow this overview for Black River. Drive on grass were possible to avoid mud - including in the farm.

Get the Fleetstar F2070 and learn to use the winch, especially selecting the point on vehicle or trailer as well as selecting which tree or branch to use.

Even after the tutorial, you will keep learning. Keep working to get to level 6 which opens up access to Mud tires which are also good on snow. Snowchains are required for ice but in the game can also be used on road.

Trailers also don't show up in the trailer store until ya find at least one of them somewhere, figured this out the hard way lol I am very late in game and still finding new ones I missed

Ahh, that's the problem, I had no clue I had an AWD upgrade for that truck. I remembered using it last time I played and it not helping, so I just never bothered to fix it this time. I actually managed to get to the factory with it now, thanks!
