Years later, and still unable to play the game with headphones...
I've had this game ever since it came out and have loved every moment playing it. I find it quite relaxing and love the different atmospheres and environments you get to explore, yet one thing is breaking my immersion and that's the inability to play this game with headphones.

Now every couple of months or so I return to the game to see if this bug has been fixed, and I am also fully aware at how picky SR is with sound output devices, yet I have never had this issue with any other game. I am also almost certain this is something that's wrong on SR's side of the game. I have tried many troubleshooting tactics listed below:

-Headphones are NOT Bluetooth, they are a wired pair using the AUX port on my laptop, sound works on everything except SR.
-All audio drivers and graphics drivers on my laptop are up to date.
-SR is also up to date
-I have disconnected every other USB connection I have connected as I understand this may interfere with sound output devices. The only USB connected devices I had are a Logitech mouse and an Xbox controller, both have been disconnected while playing the game and issue still persists. So I have eliminated these two devices as the possible issue.

Now a thing to note. I do sometimes get sound from SR, mainly on the main menu screen and on the pause menu while playing the game. However, once I begin to drive around all sound cuts out including truck sound and environmental. I get slight two second bursts of sound that are only at 20% and if I am hauling cargo I'll get very loud cargo sounds at 500% volume as well as some loud screeching and air line sounds, which also only persist for around two seconds or so.

Any help with this issue or a possible fix would be greatly appreciated!

Had this issue a number of years ago with another game.

Go into Windows audio settings and disable all other unused audio options. I only use audio from headphones via a USB audio DAC.

Never had the issue reoccur.

Hope this helps.

i use headphones all the time no issue here, and yes what above said, disable any other audio devices in device manager

Like said above, no sound issues in snowrunner ever.

But make sure the unused sound devices are disabled, or uninstalled.

On my laptops, I always use a DAC, as laptops have crappy sound cards built into the motherboard most of the time.

wow, running my PC-System since October 2017 and had no troule with sound, graphic or anything else. At the Sound, i use a Logitech G Pro X Wireless with an USB Dongle, sometimes i use the 7.1 Sound System, but there is, thanks to HDMI, the sound via Monitor, but i didn´t use it anytime, but i`d never had any trouble.
Do u configure every hardware on windows before playing the game and taking the settings in there?
Always configure in windows first, it doesn´t matter if u want use it for teamspeak, discord, games or anything else. Configure windows first, then the APP/Game/PGM.
If u don`t walk that way, u can get in trouble, cause microsoft windows itself`s, is the problem

yep this 99% of the time players problems with games is cause they dont have windows and the hardware configured right and they end up putting the blame on the game developer
