Hi, Only person who couldn't follow directions in the world here, when you say copy the files from in documents/mygames/etc.etc are you saying to paste the files from the /steam/userdata into the mygames/etcetc folder, and change their file extension?
yes, remove the previous cfg files first, so you don't have duplicates.
The wheel settings and saving them never worked for me before or after any update and I've done 4 or 5 tickets to you so I'm pretty sure you'll fix it this time. That's some halloween thing right? Just more trick than treat I guess.
Thanks @v1per I'll try that one
Thank you so much. I had the same issue, this makes it much better. I still sometimes have to change the wheel from "Logitech G29" to "Custom" (I have a G27) after starting but at least then it remembers what I had configured.
Since I'm running on Linux I had to search a bit for the correct paths. For future reference and perhaps helpful to others, this is where my files are located (on NixOS):
From: ~/.local/share/Steam/userdata/<user id>/1465360/remote/
To: <SteamLibrary path>/steamapps/compatdata/1465360/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/SnowRunner/base/storage/
The SteamLibrary path can be found by right-clicking on SnowRunner > Manage > Browse local files. You'll end up in <SteamLibrary path>/steamapps/common/SnowRunner/ where you can go up two folders to find the "compatdata" folder.
I found the userdata folder by just searching for "user_settings.cfg", not sure if it can be found in Steam directly.
How long will this 'temporary' fix remain the only fix? It's not exactly encouraging to see the devs ignore what seems to be an easy fix when it it still causing such problems.
No that i know of.
C:\Users\Account name\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\storage\A folder with many symbols
Copy three files from there:
user_profile.dat
user_settings.dat
user_social_data.dat
Paste these three files into the "storage" folder, which is located one level higher.
That's it, now your game settings won't reset every time.
